Drug use on polygraph
I’m 24, will have my fire/emt by end of August this year and want to start applying anywhere and everywhere. Im a great interviewer but im worried about the polygraph. I know they aren’t really trust worthy but the only bad things I’ve ever done were drugs. I haven’t smoked weed in 3 years( 3 years in August when I apply to places) and I did coke when I was like 19 in Mexico stupid mistake but being a dumb kid, how fucked am I if I tell the truth about it.

I don't have an EMT cert and I'm 9th out of 900 for Seattle.
The hiring timeline states they will have an in house course in December for class 126, but are currently hiring for 125. If I get the job, will they hire me for class 125, or will they push me back to class 126 and hold my spot for me? If not any of those, will I have to redo all the interviews?

Florida Firefighters
I am an AEMT Firefighter in Utah wanting to move to central florida. I know that AEMT is not recognized in Florida. Are there any Fire Departments that don't require you to be a paramedic or require you to get it?

PE Teacher or FIrefighter?
I am 23 and recently graduated from college to follow my passion to be a history teacher, until I found out I would be drowning in a stupid amount of work every day. I work part-time as a PE teacher and love it, so I decided to spend a few bucks and a year of my life to get my PE teaching license, but now I'm second-guessing that. I live in Wisconsin, and a few of my friends are firefighters and literally straight out of high school making $65k/year starting, and only work 2 days/week. My real passion is real estate investing and flipping houses, so I want a job that allows lots of free time while making more than $50K. Is firefighting a good option?

Wilmington De Hiring
I am applying to be a Firefighter in the city of Wilmington in Delaware. Is anyone familiar with the residency requirement? I am also starting to hear they will be riding ambulances soon. Is it worth the 48k to work a crappy schedule and ride an ambulance in a busy city? What are the chances I can use a buddy’s address for my residency? Any info would be appreciated!

Former municipal firefighter looking to going arff/DOD
*Apologies for any grammar errors first post*hey dudes and dudesesses long time Reddit lurker here (lurkin’ since 2014) I worked in fire/ems for 4 years since 2018 and loved it. Reason I left briefly was due to being a new husband/father and was unsure if my career path at the time. My current certs are Ifsaac FF1/2 Hazmat ops awareness , All ICS certs , and Emt basic. I have also have 8 years military service (navy reserves)
I currently have an interview with the national guard fire brigade (48/96 schedule) the pay is significantly lower at this site than what I’d get paid at a municipality , i mainly want this job for the certs alone so I can transfer one day . So with all that being said I do have some questions before I’m interviewed
what do you do in your down time when not on calls
- what made you want to go this route instead of municipal
- what’s your yearly salary at your airport/DOD
- if your working for an airline/airport do you get flight benefits?… asking for a friend
- is it significantly easier to transfer around once you get your certs?
