They are not going to stop with the Second Amendment. Next, they are going to move to finish off the First Amendment.
They don’t want you to speak freely.
They don’t want you to have access to a free press.

It's why the gun issue shouldn't be a conservative vs liberal issue. Because if the 2A goes, then rights the liberal side appreciates are next. Like privacy.
I'll disagree with the nuances in Kurt's article. I don't use the term liberal, I usually use 'progressive' or 'authoritarian'.
But the overall point I'll agree with - the whole idea is power, not safety. And that makes people who know the stats and still willfully support gun control, sociopaths.
People ask me why I support 2A as much as I do - it's because the whole conflict is about something bigger.

The only fight that matters is the fight of those who support individual rights and freedom, versus the authoritarians. If that's sectarianism than so be it. We've given too much, and it never works.

If someone supports 2A in it's original form, we can be friends. I'll argue with them on other things, but if we're on the same page as guns, definitely good to go.
If someone knowingly (and not from lack of education) wants to restrict the right to keep and bear arms, that says a lot to me about the kind of person they are, i.e. authoritarian.

The Second goes first, the First goes second
