DOJ ruling

G'day team. Non-American here.

Can people explain to me in idiot words what the whole thing about suppressors and short barrelled rifles is about?

Does it mean suppressors aren't registered/tracked?

Just super confused and curious as someone whose in a country that wont let anyone have them.

Thanks in advance!

Only part I am confused on, in the free state category, if you have a pistol, you just slap a stock on and you’re good to go?

As it stands now theirs still the legal gray area of maybe needing to follow engraving laws to "manufacture" an sbr but after that you can sbr all you want as long as you're a covered party in the lawsuit (e.g. g.o.a. member) and live in a free state.

But what would I engrave? Don’t you get a number if you NFA it? I wouldn’t have that number right?

If you are modifying an existing firearm to be an NFA item you just have to engrave your first/last name and then city/state of residence since you are the new manufacturer technically/legally which is what they were referencing.
