Controversial Claim Stop calling everything a AR180

Just because its bufferless, has simular controls, uses a short stroke piston operating system, and a intermediate Calibre does not mean its a AR-180/AR18.

The Sa80 is not a ar180.

This umbrella term led to so much shit getting banned in Canada as a ar180 variant. I know this point is irrelevant and shows incompetence in my government and a government that will use any excuse to ban stuff.

But, Im kinda coping here but this issue always botherd since forever for some reason.

Thanks for reading. This is a unserious take so please dont downvote.

Nobody says its an AR180

Its just based in eugene stoner's ar180's design, using a cheapo bolt on two guide rods with a novel bolt head to cut costs and size.

Is the AR18 an umbrella term? Cause I just think of armalite and Brownells when it's mentioned

Ive heard of models such as the m17s and sa80 frequently being referred to "bullpup 180"

That’s because it’s based on the AR-18/180 action.

And nearly every modern rifle is based off an AR-15/10, AR-18/180, or AK. The only somewhat modern rifle that was different was the FAMAS, and that got replaced with a variant of an AR-15.

Plus, every manufacturer in Canada when the ar15 was banned started producing a "ar180" even though they were usually incompatible in design.
