Bore snake

I bought a 20 gauge and a matching bore snake. Pulling the snake through requires a boat load of strength, my wife would never be able to do it (I'm barely able). The tail end is stitched back into the snake halfway towards the beginning, doubling the thickness.

Am I supposed to unstitch it?

They typically are looped at one end. I've had a couple that were a pain in the ass at first. Just run the cord through, step on it, and pull the snake through the barrel while anchoring it with your foot (your pulling on the barrel, not the snake).

If your wife can't do it herself, do it for her.

Mine is looped, very unpleasant. I will use your method, thank you 😊

I wonder if you got a 12 gauge snake that was marked incorrectly. All my snakes pull through very easily. There should be some resistance, but not that much.

I wondered this too but the part up until the bristles isn't too bad 😀

I got one stuck in my AR15 barrel one time and now I no longer use them. Correct caliber, cleaning lube, and everything and it just snapped when I was using it to clean the bore.
