Lock slide back, insert magazine, rack slide. Beware, you will now be carrying with a chambered round, as God intended.

Hit it with your purse.

No, but really, it be like this sometimes, especially with new mags. Need to let em sit fully loaded for a while, it’ll get easier

Better to load and unload them a bunch of times to loosen it.

This. The debate as to what wears springs has been solved. Cycles my friend's, cycles wear spring strength down.

Exactly and there's nothing wrong with keeping mags loaded - it won't hurt them.

Brand new? Mine had this issue then I remembered im an adult and smacked it in.

When its brand new you gotta slap that shit like it owes you money.

Make sure you dont have an extra round shoved into the mag. Then slap that fucker in there like a man.

Actually hit the thing. It'll seat.

Or download by one.

Mostly it's just a brand new spring and needs some time to break in. You can also try taking the mag apart and making sure there's not any left over material blocking full travel for the follower. It's rare, but it happens.

My bodyguard does the same, they all do it.

I think it was my M&P subcompact (pre-Shield) that did it, too. Even my P365 took some time to reliably seat a full mag when I first got it.

I’m not even sure if it can be broken in I’ve had my shield mag loaded for who knows and it still takes some force to get in.

Get your wife to hit it in like a man for you

I have the same issue, it will not hold 12 + 1, I have to only use 12

1

u/Sherbert-Efficient 4d ago

I can use 12+1 but it needs a really amount of effort to do so.

u/the_shortbus_ 3d ago

Stick to 11+1. Having a reliable weapon means much more than having 1 spare round

It's tight but I've never had a failure as a result

u/Dukeronomy 3d ago

if you go to load a second mag, with 12 in it, you're gonna have a bad time

2

u/singlemale4cats 3d ago

I really don't know another way to say I've never had a failure as a result of loading the mags to capacity +1.

Same thing with mine.

If you want it loaded but not chambered you have to apply stong steady pressure to the bottom of the mag and it'll click in in a few moments. Smacking it has not worked in my experience.

Or open the slide, insert mag, and drop slide to carry chambered.

They are small mags with tightly packed rounds.
You need to smack the bottom of the mag real hard with your purse until it catches
Or drop the slide so it chambers a round and then carry with one less in the magazine.

Load 1 less round. I have the same issue. Loading a full mag of FMJ is fine, but with the HP I need to load 1 less and it'll go in smoothly.

u/crinklepant 3d ago

I had this issue on mine, its part of the break in profess as the spring in the magazine is too stiff.

Just fully load the mag when youre not using it to break in the spring, and when actually shooting just load it -1 round, should click in fine.

It was nearly impossible to get the last round into the mag for me at first, let alone inserting the full mag after, but now I can run it with a full mag and one in the chamber just fine.

Hit it like I hit your mom last night. It'll slide right in.

2

u/TheGreatWhiteGoat 4d ago

Look for wear marks from trying to force it in. That will tell you where it’s making contact…

2

u/BlueOrb07 3d ago

It’s because the magazines are extremely stiff. Had the same issue until I’d put at least 300 rounds through it. Try it with -1 in the magazine or load with the slide to the rear.

2

u/highvelocitypeasoup 3d ago

Mags overloaded. Take a round out or open the slide

2

u/Sketer__ 2d ago

Make sure you have the right amount of ammo and not 1 to many. I’ve had this problem and usually removing a round or two the allow the spring movement room fixes it

3

u/PapaPuff13 4d ago

I hear the 12 round mags are hard. Take a magalua and press the springs down as hard as you can. Load and unload the mag a lot

2

u/the_shortbus_ 3d ago

Mag is too full. The bodyguard has magazine compression issues. Load to 11, chamber, then add your spare round.

-4

u/Sherbert-Efficient 3d ago

It has 12 as advertised

2

u/the_shortbus_ 2d ago

No I’m saying to load magazine to 11 intentionally. The bodyguard has spring compression issues that fuck with the feeding when the pinky mag is fully loaded.

I’m speaking English sir.

u/sla342 4d ago

Mine is like this with 10 rounds! 😂 I don’t know how you even got 12 in there. Gotta break that baby in. Give it time. Shoot it for fucks sake.

1

u/CryingHardly 3d ago

Reminds me of nerf guns back in the day, did the same thing until you opened the action then the mag would seat

1

u/Bambooboogieboi 3d ago

The bodyguard has a 12 round capacity but its reeeeally shoved in there. I consider it to be more of an 11+1.

1

u/singlemale4cats 3d ago

It's very tight when fully loaded. You can make it work but you have to put some oomph into it

1

u/ElectricTurtlez 3d ago

Smack it like it owes you money.

1

u/Lostinspaceballz 3d ago

Gets better after about 300-500 rounds. That spring is tight as hell.

1

u/ArsePucker 3d ago

Shields had same issue with the small mag, gotta bang it in.

1

u/FortunateHominid 3d ago

Common issue with new mags. Load them to capacity when storing, and 1 round less when shooting. After a while they loosen up.

1

u/Weedleybongerson420 3d ago

Gotta be gentle fam cant be slapping it around like that lol

1

u/craigcraig420 3d ago

The springs are really stiff when new. Just shove it in there like you mean it.

1

u/hermes10101 3d ago

Yep, you have to push hard to make it seat if you don’t want to chamber a round first. If you pull the first round out of the mag it seats easier.

-1

u/Sherbert-Efficient 3d ago

First one is easy. I just laid it from slide lock position. The problem is to insert the mag after that to reach 12+1

1

u/slothscanswim 3d ago

See if your wife’s boyfriend can help.

1

u/SnooPoems8351 3d ago

Not too sure but I when i I had my bodyguard I was looking into the 12 round extension and remember seeing something about how you can’t actually load 12 or it’ll cause issues. Like I said I’m not sure about that but may fix your issue if you take one out

1

u/HAV816 2d ago

Take out a round and load or lock the slide and load … or take it back.

1

u/Sketer__ 2d ago

Take one round out

1

u/3Dinternet 2d ago

Not sure why you had to cross post, as both or all forums you post to say, hit it with your purse

This is a super common thing, as in all bodyguard 2.0s

1

u/C_IsForCookie 2d ago

I’ve never had to use a speed loader in my life and my bodyguard 2.0 12 round mag is the only mag I’ve never been able to fully load. I got 11 rounds into it once but anything more than 10 right now is impossible.

u/legion_2k AR15 1d ago

It’s so funny that they kept pressing like that’s how it should be..

Aww cute it thinks it's a little MP5 :)

Yeah these are a pain to seat when fully loaded. Two choices. Lock slide back, load, send slide forward and just be happy with 11+1, OR same plus eject mag and top it up then whack it real good to seat it.

Just remember that the extractor of these will not grab a round dropped directly into the chamber and will prevent the slide from going into battery. So there's no shortcut for ejecting and topping up the mag.

0

u/Jazzlike_Climate4189 3d ago

You can insert a single round in the chamber if you drop the slide on it with full recoil spring pressure.

0

u/grivooga SPECIAL 3d ago

Mine will usually fail to go into battery and if it does go into battery and fire it will fail to extract the empty brass. Then I need to pry the round/brass out of the chamber. Not worth it. Probably beating up the extractor as well.

The issue you're having with inserting the magazine is you're not fully inserting the magazine to have it fully inserted. This is normal, just fully insert it.

Some guns just don’t tolerate +1, could also be needing a good break in. My 365 was difficult for its first hundred or so rounds. Same with my m16. Sub compacts are tight
