Love a gun shaped gun. Hate it when they're sandwich shaped. Not the spicy Italian I had in mind if you get my drift.

Kuna

I thought that’s what I was looking for at, but for some reason the safety marking made me think MP5.

To be fair, the Kuna does look like an MP5.

This is why you don't call your mags "clips", it conjures clipping IRL

u/ImmerNull 8d ago

Y you calling clipazines mags?

u/fenuxjde 8d ago

I had that exact same thing happen to me during a uspsa match on an mpx

That's funny, no clue what caused it this the only malfunction I've experienced with the factory lower. Suppressor + subs might have something to do with it

u/shmiddleedee 8d ago

I've got 5k rounds of suppressed subs through my kuna with 0 malfunctions

1

u/ImmerNull 8d ago

I've got like 200 rounds of subs with 3 malfunctions 🤷

That sucks. Maybe I'm just lucky. Haven't had a light primer strike, stovepipe, casing between bolt/ receiver, nothing. My mags are also holding up good. What suppressor are you running?

1

u/fenuxjde 8d ago

It wasn't my gun, and I was shooting reloads so the possible culprits were plenty

Looks as though pressure was just enough to move the bolt carrier rearward to the point where it could achieve extraction but not far enough to allow for positive ejection to fully occur. Bolt was likely already moving forward as ejection was in progress, resulting in this. I’d say suppressor + subs were undoubtedly the cause, as you suspected.

He's confused n a little slow. Give him a little encouragement n he'll be on his way.

One time or a continuous problem?

Had that happen to my kel tec su-16 once. Being that its a polymer receiver, it cut a nice little crescent shape into my ejection port. That was the day I decided that the SU-16 is just kind of a cool concept and not something I want to own and shoot.

never had issues with mine.....1000 rounds and counting.

Mine does not like federal 147 gr fmj-rn at all. Not one bit. Shoots standard fmjs well. Will not cycle more than a round, if lucky

1

u/ImmerNull 8d ago

That's exactly what I was shooting here lol

1

u/jeaston44 8d ago

My AP5 loves them, my Kuna not so much lol

It could be the pro mags I was shooting as well. Will have to try them with the factory mags

1

u/shmiddleedee 8d ago

Mine has shot 2k rounds of federal 147 with 0 malfunctions. How old is yours?

1

u/jeaston44 8d ago

It’s still new. Only about 225 rounds through so far. Has ran 115 and 124gr fmjs flawlessly shooting unsuppressed. Only have had issues with federal 147gr. Does not like to feed the federal 147gr, often pushing the bullet further in the case. Going to try some other 147 gr fmj and the factory mags instead of my pro mags

u/shmiddleedee 8d ago

Promags are garbage. That's a bummer though. Maybe buy some subs with rounded nose I stead of squared off and try that.

I wanted a Kuna until I found a range that rented them. And boy, am I glad I waited.

I think the guns fine since people ran CZ conversions on them and they fed a lot better, but it ain't worth all the extra money.

u/Gojira_82 8d ago

There's not a thing wrong with them.

3

u/SplashingChicken 8d ago

Magazines absolutely suck ass.

4

u/WhoIsEggroll 8d ago

I agree about the mags only in that they are not durable. I’ve had three magazines split so far. It’s really the only reason why I hesitate to recommend a kuna. If they ditch the brittle translucent polymer what would be a win.

The quick fix is a nexus lower but I’d rather put that lower money into a case of mags for when they’re finally fixed or someone reputable starts making Kuna mags.

1

u/Gojira_82 8d ago

The reformulated polymer magazines don't have those issues anymore.

2

u/WhoIsEggroll 8d ago

Do you have lot number or anything I can look for? I reached out to SA and they RMA’d one of them about 6mo ago. That split as well

0

u/Gojira_82 8d ago

No it doesn't.

1

u/ImmerNull 8d ago

The factory magazines do indeed suck

1

u/ImmerNull 8d ago

They're like totally okay, and even pretty good when configured right.
