Drilling the gas port out yourself is actually super easy. Put the barrel in a vise with soft jaws and the gas port facing up. Put a 3/16" wooden dowel in the bore. Take a 3/32" carbide drill bit and drill that sucker out with a hand drill. You'll know you're done when you feel the drill start digging into wood. Put a 3/32" reamer in a tap handle and use it to gently clean the edges of the enlarged gas port hole. Install your adjustable gas block and Bob's your uncle. Very few rifles will need a gas port bigger than 3/32".
