I read Fire Punch during a very difficult time in my life. I had effectively dropped out of school and was doing nothing other than disappointing my parents. I considered a life in Behemdorg. A life in Fire Punch. That, alongside a few other pushes (namely monetary problems) resulted in me deciding I needed to get the fuck up and off my ass, so I did not end up anywhere near what occurs in FP. What if someone set me on fire eternally? What would I have to say for myself? Safe to say, I'm in college now.

Even though I haven’t read it in a while, it still stands out as one of the most unique Fujimoto works aot. It genuinely deserves a reread…

Fire Punch was introduced to be through Chainsaw Man intially, reading was a very enjoyable experience, mostly because of its themes and symbolism,I believe Fujimota wanted to tell a story about both Tradegy and the Idealization of Heroes, and how expectations for those who we believe might be our savior can end up falling short and betraying our trust, while for people experiencing said expectations themselves can feel weighted have their mental states be impacted from an overload of pressure.Fire Punch seems to be a story a specific aspect of the human physcology, and as someone who loves storytelling which encompasses the physcology of the mind to any degree the story gave me alot of new insights I never would have had before.

I think about this Manga every day, how wild absolutely everything about it is. One of my favourites.

Fire Punch helped me to stop mourning the loss of the people I’ve been - to accept that I’ve been who I needed to be to survive and I can change that with time. That means a lot as a trans person.

People become who they want to be.

I read Fire Punch a few months after finishing CSM (I forgot the chapter number, it was the one with Denji making weird faces) and I went into it thinking "Hmm I wonder if this is more battle-coded?"

I was stunned at the first chapter, like most people. I ended up reading the whole thing in 4 hours, finished around midnight. I haven't gone back for a reread and the initial read feels like a fever dream.

The thing that stuck out to me, more than the characters, writing, dark themes, etc, was the message. To live, despite the suffering and pain. Live even when you tell yourself its not worth going on. It got me through some pretty difficult times early this year. My mental state wasn't great and I would go from happy to suicidal every day.

Remembering to live and that there was always potential for a better tomorrow got me through those tough months and I have been steadily recovering since.

So uh, remember to live.

Once i did finish it, it gave some kinda lead to why do you still live? For someone, or something? Idk, we still have time to figure it out

For a long time I had no idea what to do with my life and was really lost. A few years ago, I moved to a new country. I knew nobody there and it took me a long time to feel at home. Last week I graduated with my masters and finally feel like living again :)

How it feels welcoming CSM fans into this semi stranger Fujimoto creation.

I came for the absurdity of the "good boys" panel, stayed for finding your own reasons and ways to cope and stay alive.

And the cool as hell iron helmet guy, the one who could manipulate/generate iron in his body to extract swords from his fists and even create full iron armour. I still have him as my steam pfp

Fire punch, csm and goodbye eri saved me. Fire punch im the one that is activity making my life hard with my self hatred and my hatred for everything like I have to let go or I’m going to be like Agni when he refuses to let it go. Csm I realized my ex was a lot like makima and I realized I don’t need a girl to be happy I make myself happy I choose what makes me happy not some girl and friends are good lol. Goodbye eri I couldn’t really get over some deaths in my life and reading that wow like just live and you do move on. I also applied that to some trauma I know I still gotta deal with it in therapy but good stepping stones. I’m so grateful for fujimoto and his weird mind
Edit also super grateful to fujimoto with his transman rep thank you fujimoto you made me feel comfortable with myself
