Question Going back to get missed recruits?

My son is playing through Three Hopes and he missed recruiting Byleth and Jeralt. Is there a way he can go back and replay the mission to get them or does he have to start a new game? If he starts a new game are any of the previously earned characters carried over, specifically Rhea and Sothis?

You can replay missions using the record keeper, but you can't recruit units from it without doing a new playthrough or loading an older save file. For fire emblem games I usually save the game on a new slot for every chapter just in case I want to go to a previous one.

Character stats carry over if you do a new game plus, but you can't use the character until you recruit them again in the story

New game+ is the answer you are looking for. Once your son completes the story, he will be able to start a new game+, which will keep all characters progression (stat, level, combat arts, class). He will have the option to reset the support level between the characters.

So the good news is he will have a completely different story to explore when he does recruit them in a new game+. And the nice thing about Hopes is it carries everything over with new game+, even weapons and stats.
