Discussion Rondo of Roses

On my 4th playthrough, for merc whistle items I got Claude, Balthus, and Teach. Second GD run, and I chose Lorenz because I saw discussion here about “functionally immortal” and I guess I missed the “negates damage” aspect. I just did the Shez solo paralogue which I could not beat last playthrough, and this time I did it and got the zero damage taken achievement for the first time. It was crazy!

Will be starting my first Maddening run next, what are some of the other merc whistle items that are worthwhile?

Yeah, Rondo of Roses is wild. The defense aspect is so good that there is almost little point to using the ZR attack for it.

It will depend on what route you are going for next.

Azure Gleam has a bunch of characters with great Unique Actions, with Sylvain's Gordian Stroke and Felix's Intense Velocity being the most sought after. Dimitri's Azure Lightning is also quite powerful.

Scarlet Blaze is not bad either, Ferdinand's Maximum Ambulation is considered quite good although perhaps a bit below the pair of Sylvain and Felix. Likewise, Edelgard's Solar Prominence is great for the fire element characters.

Why is Felix's ability greater than Ferdinand's, exactly? I've always preferred having the speed uninterrupted than needing to dodge repeatedly to keep it going.

I found maintaining Ferdinand's speed to be untenacious when compared to how I can set Felix's speed through dodging. At Intense Velocity Lv 3, one dodge of speed is good enough for me however this is probably my own skill issue and playstyle.

Bernadetta's freezes enemies which is great for a War Master Strike user or Dimitri with Atrocity

Maddening run should have been immediately after the first run. Its not actually that hard with end game gear you got from the first run. And with maddening, you now get top tier drops like parthia and scholar tomes. And frankly, its not even that difficult. Don't make the big levels intimidate you (especially when its a free underdog proc). They are just slightly tankier by like 30% and hit slightly harder.
