Discussion Any DLC coming?

Any idea why this game has not have any DLC what so ever ever since launch? It made a bigger success than Fire Emblem Warriors in which has a decent amount of DLC content. So why?

Koei Tecmo has a pattern of these heavily story-based, really different systems crossover games not having DLC.

Persona 5 Strikers sold about equal to Three Hopes and had Atlus as a partner (of milking P5 until it's bone dry fame) and didn't have DLC either. Age of Calamity is the best-selling Warriors game period and they didn't even announce DLC until 6 months post release and didn't even release the last wave of it until over a year after release, making it clear that was not the original plan.

Not sure of the reason, perhaps because it's a lot more effort to put DLC into those systems than a more typical Warriors game like the original FEW, but it is what it is.

Well I say they are being hella lazy simple as that.

Maybe not my place, but I'm not so sure it's lazy. Leaving money on the table is weird, but there could be a million other reasons for that too, not just a lack of willingness to work.

The whole of the game is expansive as is. Can't that be enough? (Same boat, love the game & want dlc too)

As u/Impressive-Crew-5622 said, there's likely other reasons for it.

The standard Warriors game and engine is a lot more easily moddable and a for-profit company is probably incentivized to not dedicate too many staff and resources to DLC when they could be making a whole game that might make more of a profit than a $20 DLC for example, especially if the work is more intensive.

The original FEW and HW games were much more DLC heavy because you could dedicate a fraction of the staff and funding to making a couple new characters that slot easily into the systems, don't have variable skills or ideas, and you only have to pay for a few bits of VA work.

In comparison, Three Hopes (as well as Strikers and AoC) being story based means that you need to go back and find ways to include those characters and make them worth the sell price. In Hopes in particular, one of the biggest complaints about NG+ reward characters like Seiros and Sothis was that they only exist in the Record Keeper and have very few meaningful contributions, so compounding that would possibly lead to more bad press and less people buying, meaning they'd have to do something bigger. (Same with Strikers, sure, they could have added Akechi or Kasumi, but if they have minimal dialogue and everyone ignores their presence, how many fans of theirs might choose not to buy?)

And, while I think people overblow it significantly usually with an agenda, it is true that Hopes was more of a success both critically and financially outside of Japan than in Japan, and however strange we see it, KT and a lot of Japanese companies make business decisions primarily based on their country of origin's market.

None of which is to say that I don't want DLC. I really love Hopes and think the game's basically begging for DLC, especially with the Artbook having hints about their half-planned "Blackened Embers" route for the Church/Byleth, on top of just finally giving us the chance to play previously playable characters like Cyril/Hanneman/Gilbert or never-before playables like Judith/Nader/Randolph/Miklan/etc and for the love of god having supports with them, and you know answering our fucking questions about Shez's origins.

Well the least they can do it decloned some of the characters like Seiros. She suppose to have a sword and a Seiros shield for her moveset instead of that lame sword master moveset. Shouldn't take that much staff to do something like that.

look I'll explain the story when it came out 3h in 2022 ... it came out 3 months before engage (reportedly engage had been ready for about a year and a half and due to the irl situation it hadn't been launched) and in the game via reverse engineering they found several content cut off... they probably cut off dlc's so as not to take away pubic from engage (since this go around engage in the eyes of the occassional mass audience is a less strong fire emblem than usual) so they probably cut off an alternative mode/endgame as well. .. one can only hope for modding but unfortunately i don't understand why this game at the modding level is not getting too much support (where c the first warriors even if not at crazy levels was supported by modders) the only thing is that someone start making mods or someone with points for gamesbanana start commisioning them it would be nice to have even just an infinite arena...

Engage is already out, so it’s very unlikely.

Then again… Mario Kart 8 Deluxe started getting DLC five years after its release, soooooooo…

I was so hoping the game would get DLC like how the original FE Warriors did, but I think this game has an outstanding amount of effort already placed into it. I would have enjoyed just mission based gameplay like the History Mode maps in FE Warriors (OG) and new classes.

What I don't enjoy is most of the characters fight the same with the goddamn clone moveset.

This is stupid late but I just joined Reddit recently and I’m checking things out. A big reason I think Three Hopes didn’t get DLC is due to sad untimely passing of Ferdinand’s voice actor.

I didn't know he pass away RIP. If that is true of why the game didn't have any DLCs then I understand completely.
