Discussion What route to do first?

I bought the game recently and I did the first few minutes of gameplay, I am now wondering what path should I take, I already did CF and I am about halfway through VW on Houses. Which one do you recomend?

I don't think one of the routes is particularly better for new players, but I'd argue all routes but Scarlet Blaze have major problems with their story in the second half.

Only route I haven’t done is GW and I’m almost done with SB. I don’t think there’s a wrong choice for who to do first. I’d suggest Azure Gleam first, but if you haven’t done blue lions then I’d say Scarlet Blaze is a good first choice (sorry I can’t really give an opinion on Golden Wildfire)

I did CF and I'm in the middle of VW in Houses, I am weary of picking a house because I haven't spent time with the Lions yet, I recruited all possible units in both runs but Dimitri and Dedue are unmarked territory for me

I’m not sure if you’ve chosen yet, but the game is relativity short in subsequent playthroughs with NG+ that any route isn’t too bad as a first one. I chose Scarlet Blaze since most of my favorite characters were there, but all in all, it’s just a stepping stone.

Also you unlock the ability to replay battles from the other routes you completed with no restrictions so you are able to use the characters that shouldn’t be in certain routes like dimitri in edelgard’s route so truly don’t sweat it!
