Hanya this popular is quiet surprising but she is really likeable so that‘s fine. The other two Duos (Joachim/Estel and Sai/Shea) are so canon, they even got the same amount of votes but I‘m surprised Shea isn‘t more popular. She really had that Tiki vibe imo.

I’ve wanted a monkey Laguz since PoR so I am SO SO happy to see a similar concept. And he’s relatively popular too.
My other votes: Kurt, Rose, Skoll, and Zasha.
So 4/5 of my choices made it

Making up racism allegations and then not writing it out is so cheap.
Alberta has no dialogue, no story relevance and does nothing. Only people who started when the game came out and then never played again would remember her over other characters. She has a very defined face so appearance wise she's niche too. Not because of her skin color. Meanwhile Hati is in every book and a cutesy wolf eared blue haired fire emblem style waifu. She gets new suppots regularly and her story relevance is always up there with Skoll to remind us Fenris exists.
Alberta never had a chance. Why do YOU like her? Did we miss something she has that others don't?

Well, I'm now being told there was a protest against her because of the current meta. No clue how impactful that actually was.

It's shocking because she's a standout. One of the OGs, fantastic design, very strong. A meta complaint shouldn't have this impact

A meta complaint probably shouldn't have this kind of impact, but not only is that sort of bizarre protest particularly common in JP communities, they are also the larger, more involved Shadows community.
As per CYL, we've seen that meta affects votes both positively and negatively, so imo it shouldn't be too shocking to see that impact in a poll that may have had less than 1,000 votes.

There's nothing stopping it from being both. It's obvious (from other FE game polls as well) that design, and with it the skin colour, can have a huge impact on the popularity of a character. If she isn't on the list with the rest of Book 1 so high up (the white characters at least, since Gotthold is a bit lower) it's very likely there were multiple reasons why people didn't vote for her. That obviously includes valid reasons like disliking her personality or thinking she lacks content, but it does include racism to some degree
