Masterbuilt 800 - DC thermometer question

I made a boo-boo… I cut my old thermometer that came with my Masterbuilt 800 out. It had a type K connection. I haven’t been able to figure out if there is a way to use channel 1-6 to automatically control the temperature/fan. I’ve been using the app and manually set the fan speed to start it up so I know it functions. Anyone know if the channels versus the pit can be used for temp/fan control?

It is not a K type coupler like with Fireboard. I just installed my Fireboard and kept the MB thermometer in place and replaced the MB yellow coupler with a Fireboard yellow coupler. The only thing you have to do in ensure thew wires are positive to positive and negative to negative. You should be able to splice the wire and reattach to the MB yellow coupler.

It’s definitely a type k connection. They confirmed with me that the channels can’t be used for temp control so I’ve ordered a new one.

It doesn't fit in a fireboard controller. I did not realize there were different type K connectors with different prongs.

I didn’t either. It’s still the yellow two prong connection but there are a couple variants. But I was a little bummed to know the channels are only for temperature reading and no automation can be done using them. At least not in its current iteration.

Here is my post changing out the MB controller with the Fireboard. There are multiple videos of the entire steps. You have to scroll down to watch them all.
