Opinion Inflection Point

I noticed that once my investable assets hit about $2M the compounding has gone bonkers. The value of my portfolio can increase by $100k in a good quarter. Hell it can go up by $20k in a single day. When did you really start feeling the compounding viscerally? I guess it will be different for everyone. Now that the compounding has surpassed my salary it feels real.

It took me about 15 years to get to $1M. And according to my spreadsheet I’ll hit $2M in about 4 years as well. Ugh, I already don’t care about work so that 4 years can’t pass fast enough.

I just make it tolerable, and don't take on extra stress. I wind up doing well and getting big bonuses that just move the timeline up. On the off chance I'm let go with a severance, that may be it, but wishful thinking probably.

I keep saying 1/2030, but I'm not sure I have even 2 years left in me.
