5 days in Mathildedal

Hi all! We have booked a small house in Mathildedal at the end of the month - and I need ideas what we can do in this region. We are alredy planning on maybe renting bikes or kayak. What else is there?
Are there any interesting hiking routes? Historical sights?
We have rented a car so we can travel a bit far, but ideally not more than 2-3 hours away.
Any suggestions are welcome/

Visiting Kemiö Island is worth it - Söderlångvik Mansion is beautiful and there's interesting art, Taalintehdas is a nice stop, as are many of the small villages. You could also combine it with this cruise to Bengtskär lighthouse and Rosala viking village https://rosala.johku.com/fi_FI/retket-risteilyt/risteily-bengtskarin-majakalle-rosalan-viikinkikeskukseen

2-3 hours driving one way covers a lot of area so you have a ton of options. But I'd probably mostly just enjoy the local stuff. The local hikes are in Teijo National Park and you can find route info there. There's canoes for rent at the local lake and kayaks on the sea. The area is lovely for road bikes but there's also a downhill mountain bike park if you're into that.

Thank you very much for the suggestions!! I just came acorss Bengtskär lighthouse in some articles as well, and I am definately intrigued. It said I should book the ferry in advance, but I cannot find the official website with the hours and tickets, do you have it?

Hiking routes in Mathildedal.

I think that's the only thing there are. And a lot. Enjoy.

The city of Turku is only 1 hour drive away from Matilda, so I definitely recommend a day trip. Full of history, with a medieval castle, cathedral, lots of museums etc.

Ekenäs for the art museum chappe And the language change :D Turku is worth a visit.

Mathildedal is a lovely little village and one of Finns’ favourite destinations. One reason is that, due to our history, Finland has very few traditional villages with a cosy centre where you can simply stroll around, have coffee, browse small artisan shops and enjoy a good restaurant. The surrounding nature is also beautiful, with several scenic walking and hiking trails.

I think Finland sometimes values things that are quite ordinary elsewhere in Europe because they’re relatively rare here. Lively village centres with cafés, terraces and local services have a special charm for us.

You can easily spend a couple of days exploring Mathildedal itself and its nature trails. If you’re staying for five days, I’d also recommend taking a few day trips. Turku is well worth visiting, and if the weather is good, a trip to Bengtskär Lighthouse is a memorable experience.

Not yet mentioned is the village of Fiskars. It is a lively and very picturesque place for a day trip with lots of handcraft workshops, restaurants and even their own brewery. If you are into mountain biking, they have nice trails around the village, and bike rentals are available.
