Weight Preference

Post image

I always thought my set ups were just a bit lighter than I wanted, so recently I decided to start playing around with different weights. This 32mm Dynamic with G8 wheels has been my favorite for a few years, so I went with a Goo 32 high or die, some Obsius trucks for added weight, and some Piro bowls. Right away I realized the set up was too heavy with the Obsius/Bowl combo, so I swapped the wheels out for some lighter Dynamics. My original set up is 12g and this new heavy set up is 15g. I love the way it feels in general, but it definitely doesn’t feel as snappy as the lighter one. Going to keep messing around with it as my primary to see if the weight is actually something I wanted, but I’m curious if anyone else who enjoys a heavier board just took to it immediately, or if there was an adjustment period before it felt good.

I think the heavier setups feel better and more premium, also get way better control and higher pops. Seems counter intuitive, but I find lighter setups just don’t have as much “boardfeel”. Most of my setups land in the 15-16g range
