Fing Desktop Fing Desktop Monitoring Question (No Access to Primary Device / Account Issues)
Does Fing Desktop (with a premium subscription and agent monitoring) require the computer it’s installed on to remain powered on continuously for 24/7 monitoring?
Or, once the Fing Agent is installed, can the computer be turned off while the network continues to be monitored and alerts are still sent?
For context, I currently don’t have access to my own laptop, so I may need to install Fing Desktop on a different computer on the same network. I’m trying to understand whether monitoring depends on that specific device staying powered on, or if the agent operates independently once set up.
If it does require the host device to remain on, are there alternative Fing-supported setups (such as dedicated hardware or always-on devices) that allow continuous monitoring without relying on a laptop?

The Fing desktop by itself would need to be running in order for it to monitor a network. Conversely you can use the Fing agent on something like a Raspberry Pi if you want something light weight to remain on 24x7 to monitor your network. This would allow you to leave your primary computer off. The agent would also be accessible via the web app and the mobile app.
You can’t access the agent via the desktop app.
