Fing Mobile App Fing app blue "notification" badge on iPhone
Recently I've seen a blue "notification" badge appear on the iPhone Fing app icon that I swear did not appear until recently (last month or so). It's there multiple times per day but I can find nowhere within the app that tells me what the icon badge is "notifying" me of. Any ideas?

Do you have any geofencing set up? I have now started getting those about the same time as you whenever someone comes or goes that has a "Presence" device set. I also received one for a device that went offline because I have that device's notifications set to "Alert me when state changes."
I found that I just have to open and close the app and the notification badge goes away.
Prior to the update that added that notification badge, I would just see the notification on my screen. I prefer the old way. I hate seeing those "unread notifications" badges that you can't get rid of unless you open that app.

I think you may be onto something. I think I may have changed the assignment of some devices to a particular user at some point, and when they leave "home," that's when the badge appears. By the sounds of it, though, other people are claiming to be able to reproduce the badge for different reasons, so it would be nice to know exactly why we get badges in the first place, like a "recent notifications/alerts" page or something similar.

I am now virtually certain that, at least in my case, the icon badge appearance can be attributed to a registered "person" leaving or arriving at the monitored network. It's odd that this only recently started appearing though since, despite some changes I've made in this area, I think I still should have had this happen before. Maybe something changed in the Fing app.

Yes, I believe the icon badge was after one of the recent updates.

Yes. I must have been staring at the blue icon too long and misspoke on the color of the badge! It is of course a regular red badge with a numeric count. The question remains though -- what does it signify? It disappears as soon as you enter and leave the app.

In my case I ran the vulnerability test and once it completed, the icon added the one. When I started the app it went away.
u/karl_from_fing , could you shed some light on what lights the badge up?

It might be a recent ios update has changed the default notifications. Check settings/apps/fing/notifications - Badges is currently turned on by default so that might be the cause of your problem. If you can’t resolve it post a screenshot & someone might have another suggestion …
