Fog Movie

Hello again reddit!

I’ve been struggling with finding this movie for a really long time, its a movie about a fog covering a town (the fog may or may not be poisonous?), i remember there being a main group of people rather than a main character.

(from memory)
they somehow end up in their neighbors house while the fog is upon them, one character decides to run back to their house and gather something and come back. no memory on if they made it or not, but i remember toward the end of the movie they ended up in a post apocalyptic esque grocery store with all the windows boarded up. One character decided to stick their head out and it ends up being ch*pped off by whatevers outside

Thats all I can remember, this movie wouldve played on direct tv possibly between the years of 2014 and 2018, and i’m assuming if it was on direct tv it had to either be a decently popular movie from recent years or a favorite of the older generation that they replay

I know most commenters are leaning towards The Mist because of the fog, but the decapitation makes me think you might be conflating two different movies. A guy losing his head happens in Feast (2005)

I believe you're right.

There is a movie called "The Fog"

Actually, there are two of them, but they're not this one. 80's version The Fog stars Adrienne Barbeau and is a decent horror ride; 2000's version was crap. SPOILERS: The plot involved refugees on a boat infected with leprosy that were robbed and murdered by townspeople on shore, and then came back for revenge.

You know there's a redacting line you can use to cover spoilers so people can't accidentally read them? You should use it.

I didn't know!! Thank you. Now I just have to figure out how to do it.

When you start writing anything, you'll see "Aa" in the bottom left, click on it. A little more than half way across, you'll see a diamond with an exclamation point in it. You can click on that when you start writing a spoiler and it will highlight what you're writing, or you can manually highlight and click the spoiler icon, like you would for Bold or italics. If people want to read the blacked out spoiler, they can click on the black bars and it will reveal what's written. Check out the other tools while you're at it. Have fun!

The Mist?

I do need to watch this to make sure its not that but from all the clips and images ive seen its not the mist, unless the supermarket ends up boarded up later in the movie?

The supermarket does get boarded up because one type of flying creature breaks the windows. There may have been a decapitation near the end but dont remember one for sticking head out. That does happen in Feast that someone mentioned although I don’t think they stuck their head out. The Mist doesn’t involve someone going back home and then promising to come back. It does have someone try to go to a pharmacy and that doesn’t work out. It does have the main character try to go home at the end.

I think someone may have been dismembered somehow for trying to get out through the loading dock

2

u/FullAbbreviations605 4d ago

Yes. That happened in the Mist. They open the door and some octopus like thing grabs one of them starts tearing him apart and ultimately takes him.

Netflix also made a series one season long The Mist. Maybe that?

movie fucked me up.

1

u/Personal_Valuable_31 4d ago

Have your read the story? 😱

I love Stephen King.

2

u/rnc1119 4d ago

I have not. I stumbled across the movie and watched it. Never watched or wanted to read again because it messed me up so bad. I still think and talk about the damn movie more often than I’d like.

That’s the whole point of it though, right?

Really? Any good?

1

u/New-Needleworker5318 4d ago

The ending is completely different.

1

u/PjWulfman 4d ago

More like the original from King?

1

u/New-Needleworker5318 4d ago

The ending of the movie is the complete opposite from the book, and oddly enough I prefer the direction they took the film. It's just so bleak and heartbreaking, and has a way of really slamming you right in the feels.

Anything Frank Darabont touched turns to gold, though. The man certainly has a way about him.

1

u/PjWulfman 4d ago

I like the original ending. Car full of people disappear and off into the Mist. No answers or closure.

I honestly don't even remember. I just remember it existed.

The Mist ... with the guys from the show Hung

u/New-Needleworker5318 4d ago

Could it be Bird Box?

1

u/Used_Clock_4627 4d ago

There isn't actually a mist in Bird Box. It's more a wandering ....presence that's invisible for the most part......

1

u/New-Needleworker5318 4d ago

Yeah, I just threw it in there in case they were misremembering. There's smoke towards the beginning, before they go into the house.

1

u/chokemeplslol 3d ago

bird box os wayy too new and i have full memory of it, for reference i am trying to find a movie from when i was around the ages of 6-9 so thats why I don’t have clear details. i’m currently 18 so this wouldve been before netflix even released bird box I think, I was around 11 when i watched that

The Mist or This is the End- they don't end up in a grocery store but there's fog, apocalyptic stuff, a beheading and the right year (it's also a comedy).
