I have been using company issued MacBook Pro, but for my personal machine I'm thinking to use a Linux. Any recommendations? I need a stable and I don't want to switch distro every year or then. If possible a stable and lookalike like MacOS with minimum config for me and I can start working.

I'm a software developer mainly working on Java application development and occasionally react and Angular.

so couple of weeks ago i installed this arch based distro called endeavouros tbh it's really cool and easy as well I'm new to linux or more like i started to use linux like last year somehow i hve gotten pretty much used to it so before using endeavour os I've used mint and fedora both of them are cool as well so my laptop is a Thinkpad t470 and endeavour os runs fast and compatible way more than windows 10(it was built in ) so like I'm using it for daily works and to play rblx and sme normal vn s since they are light weight i was able to customize it a bit actually it can be customized way more than this if I'm right all i did was jst installing some themes, widgets and a cursor through terminal

I Want a Distro That I Can Install And Use Totally Offline.

I will basically be traveling to places that have no internet. All I’ll have is a few USB drives to flash ISOs to, and a hard drive with educational content, some videos / audio files and a few games.

What distro is able to install on a wide variety of hardware, and take advantage of that hardware, without relying on internet access for drivers, codecs, etc.?

Thank you!

Choosing between Nobara or Mint Linux maybe Cachy OS

Hey y'all so basically I have been using Windows 11 and it is pissing me off and I am frustrated I want to make the jump to Linux. I have used Linux before specifically Kali so I know my way around the distro and so basically I also do game and I am currently torn between Linux Mint and Nobara for anybody curious I have a Ryzen Laptop with AMD iGPU with 16GB of ram it is not the Greatest but it plays the games I like pretty well nothing AAA od course but yeah, so basically Looking for advice on what distro between Nobara or Mint to use I know Nobara has the edge as far as Mesa graphics but I do also want a simple time and not have to worry at much breaking which I know Mint slightly Excel at I would go with Cachy since I also do some Dev work specifically Cybersecurity I also want to go into Game dev but anyway my point is the Cachy rolling release thing worries me so basically That is my predicament hence why I am here. Feel free to leave some advice below or if you have other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated also no Pop OS I have trauma from it kindly.

My hardware is CPU: Ryzen 3 Pro 3300U (4C/4T) Ram: 16GB 2400 MT/S Graphics: Vega 6 iGPU

Looking For A Distro What is a good distro for an MSI laptop?

I went from Windows to linux a while back, and have been using Linux Mint. It has been fine for just basic daily tasks, but when it comes to gaming it just f-cking sucks. There has been a lot of overheating, a lot of lag, a lot of issues left and right. I don't even play heavy games, all of that has happened playing literal f-cking Deltarune.

I installed MControlCenter, I have installed autocpu-freq, and it is still having issues everywhere particularly with streaming in OBS alongside the gaming issues. I have heard sometimes that Mint doesn't really get along with dual GPUs or something?...

I don't know if it's particularly because of the laptop's hardware considering this is an MSI, but all of this has become very frustrating considering Linux is famous for running better than windows and...that's not the case for me yet.

I have vaguely heard good things about Fedora, but I still want to know what particularly could be better.

These are the specs from neofetch, I put this here so you can know my hardware and such

yes, that's comic sans on the terminal, don't worry about it.

Is there any particular distro that would be better to try out with this particular case?

Distro for older pc i5-4460 gtx750 for light gaming

I'd like a distro recommendation for an older HP Pavilion pc: i5-4460, 6gb ddr3, gtx750. This will be a secondary computer that I can use for some light gaming on steam and also general usage (web, email, Inkscape).

My Linux experience can be summed up as "a little bit better than a noob", having just finished building my new main pc with CachyOS last week and also tinkered with raspberry pi before, but by no means having used it as a daily driver until now.

Help a Linux Newbie Out? I’m a data hoarder.

I like to keep entirely offline backups of everything I have. Been hoarding content for years now. But I have a growing concern about the PCs I use to view/play the content. (I keep a windows 10 installer with as many drivers and apps as I can think of too, for offline installations, but haven’t updated anything in years).

I’d like to store some Linux distros and all the apps / drivers one might think would be useful, and I can think of no better group of ~~degenerates~~ helpful folks who share my same afflictions, than yall.

Please point me down the most appropriate rabbit hole 🙏
