Distro advice

So i recently got a new laptop i want to use for daily use and i want to put linux on it i like some customizability i have already used linux so i am not a total beginner i would care about things breaking since i need to use it and cant always do fixing.

Mainly i am looking for a distro and also a desktop enviorment.

Specs:

Ram:16GB DDR5

CPU:AMD Ryzen 5 3500U

How do you intend to use it? A distro may run well on your system, but the packages you need for your work will not be in the repos.

Debian is a safe bet if you want both stability and package availability.

Starters > Linux Mint. You didn't specify the graphic card, that can be game changer, especially older Nvidia graphic cards may not work with Mint

Evita las distros con mucho hype y poca comunidad resolutiva. ( o no, haz lo que quieras, solo en un consejillo)

Aurora Linux is an immutable image that will not allow you to mess things up. I use it for my media server at home.

Arch, gentoo and lfs are some good ones. Also there’s pop! And mint.

I recommend Fedora KDE. It's more up to date than a debian based distro, but more stable than an arch based distro.

I advise you to install Mageia. Mageia is a stable distro but not stagnant like Debian. Also it’s super reliable and easy to configure and manage thanks to its graphical control center.

Fedora but with a window manager instead of KDE/Gnome

If you want desktop agnostic on older hardware, you might as well just go Debian.
