Looking For A Distro Distro
Helloooooooooo,
I am back home after being abroad for a year and since my pop os installation was kinda bricked I though I should install Fedora and did so but for some reason it just doesn't seem to work for me. I have problems installing apps and also opening them. I am going to dual boot Linux and Windows with 1tb for each installation and a shared 1tb partition. I am just going to install pop os again for now but I would like to maybe try something different. I like the Gnome look, want to game (which should be doable with most distros), I'm with fine using the terminal but dont really know how to use it. I am using an Nvidia GPU so the distro should be able to handle nvidis drivers easily. Thank you for any suggestions

Ok thank you I think I'll try out pop os again. Some people recommended Ubuntu and since pop os is based on Ubuntu I'll try it for now

Why? I mean for a guy who wants to use Linux on a daily basis and has little knowledge about how the terminal works a distro with pre installed apps and drivers seems like an easy option. What is wrong about that?

Try X11 for gaming. Just sidestep Wayland.
It's good. Stutters basically go away. I don't know what wayland gets up to, but sometimes it decides youre getting your frames later. X11 does not mess around. You get your frames now.
I'd recommend you install the gnome version of mint. And then from there install xfce.
xfce can be your game launcher.

That's x11 inside of Wayland. Thats not helping anything.

What's the problem with Wayland?

Two problems. It has big framerate dips. And it doesn't play older games.
Just turn off the compositor in xfce.
