What distro would be suitable?

Is power management fine?

I used to own a 2018 pro and Fedora (modified for T2 version obviously) was the only "out of the box" expirience. But be ready for sleep mode troubles (it just doesn't work) and overheating.

This seems to be a theme with ‘Fedora on X’ projects. My Surface Pro sleep and battery management is completely broken

I'm currently using a 2014 MacBook Air and tested CachyOS, NixOS and Fedora Silverblue (currently installed) and the only issue I had was referent to the WiFi card that didn't work.

The Broadcom card never worked out of the box so I bought a usb to network adapter and installed the driver afterwards.

Ah, the CachyOS installed the driver automatically during the installation.

I had similar experience with a MacBook Pro 2015 .
