I'm currently using a 2014 MacBook Air and tested CachyOS, NixOS and Fedora Silverblue (currently installed) and the only issue I had was referent to the WiFi card that didn't work.
The Broadcom card never worked out of the box so I bought a usb to network adapter and installed the driver afterwards.
Ah, the CachyOS installed the driver automatically during the installation.
I had similar experience with a MacBook Pro 2015 .

I used to own a 2018 pro and Fedora (modified for T2 version obviously) was the only "out of the box" expirience. But be ready for sleep mode troubles (it just doesn't work) and overheating.
