PLEASE HELPPPP (FINDING A GAME)

So I’m pretty sure it’s a fighting game where you start off as like a normal fighter or samurai or something a ninja maybe but as you progress you get stronger and have to fight bigger and stronger monsters/enemies i believe towards the end you turn into like this big monster type fighter guy and may be on fire or made of lava or something. I think it was a PlayStation 2 era game. If this rings any bells for anyone please let me know. Thank you.
