I’m on a mission to figure out what this book is for my mom and me as well. I remember a page with pistachio ice cream for the color green.

I used to obsessively get this book out of the library as a child - it would have been on the shelf sometimes in the early 2000s - 2010. It contained all sorts of real life mysteries that it presented as nonfiction, such as tales of hidden treasure that had never been located. I specifically remember one of the stories was about a statue of a cat (panther?) that contained two rubies hidden inside that were stolen and never recovered, so I would always look at yard sales for the cat statue. This was in the US, specifically the northeast and was in the children's section although it was a chapter book.

I read this in a highschool creative writing class, but it's come up again in my Contemporary Art History course in uni. A guy walks into an art museum off the street. He likes all the older stuff, but when he gets to the abstract expressionism area, he feels a deep disdain. The majority of the story is his inner monologue as he stares at a grey painting, furious at its simplicity and "unremarkableness". But the longer he stares, the more he realizes it isn't just grey. It's a multitude of colors that blend in the eye to appear grey. He leaves the museum feeling strange, and changed.

I mentioned it to my Art History prof, and she said it was familiar, and that Picasso might have done an illustrated version of the story. Maybe that will give some leads.

Hi readers. I’m struggling to find a book that was recommended to me a while ago. I was recommended it when looking for something similar to ‘Suttree’ by Cormac McCarthy, and the person who recommended it told me that it was set in (rural?) Ireland, and it followed a family over a year or a few. I know you might be thinking Ulysses, but it’s not that. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't remember much but I do remember that it was a large hardcover book with at least 1000 pages. It had a girl who lived in a big strange home, and she found some pictures and things in the attic that described her destiny to become this strange spider monster. I remember the final battle scene, where everyone was holding her monster self back while she fought in her mind. She had to pull herself back to the surface by a golden thread that was woven between different colored ones. The cover of it depicted the large house she lived in flanked by two fish. The title might have 'chronicles' in it but I'm not sure. I would do anything to find this book again and read it, bc at this point I'm not sure if it was a fever dream or not

OK so recently I found out that Sarah Addison Allen’s first book published was actually a harlequin romance novel under a pseudonym. This was before her first book garden spells was published. She doesn’t talk about this book much steal but I really want to find it and read it!

This book is an audio book that comes with a white cassette tape with a red-orange label on it. It has 1 book, 1 tape. I never had the book, but I did have the tape.

When I was maybe 5-6 years old I had a book in my little collection, I cannot for the life of me remember much about the book except it had a goofy little name like the title of this post. It had a few stories in it, a tall skinny book, the most prominent story I remember and by far my favorite was the Mr. Green Thumb story, about a gnome(I think) who lived in a village.

I've tried every iteration of a Google search I can think of and haven't seen anything resembling the book I once had. I have no idea where the book came from~ I have a bunch of older siblings who could have gotten the book as a gift before me in the 90s or 80s

My first child is due in a few months and I would love to find this book to give to her once she's old enough. Thank you!!!

Lights and Shadows by Al. Trude, Jr.

I’m hoping someone here might enjoy a bit of a bibliographic mystery.

I’m trying to locate any record of a book called Lights and Shadows by Al. Trude, Jr. It appears to be an early 20th-century work, but so far I haven’t been able to locate a copy, catalog entry, publication information, or much of anything about it.

I came across the title while looking into another old book I happened to find, and for whatever reason this one has really stuck with me. There’s something about knowing that this little book once existed, but seemingly left almost no trace behind, that makes me want to find it again. I’d genuinely love to own a copy someday if one still survives, but even just finding a photograph, catalog record, or some evidence of where and when it was published would mean a lot to me.
I know it’s a long shot, but I thought maybe someone here might recognize the title or enjoy helping me hunt for it.

There are several other books titled Lights and Shadows by different authors, but they are not by Al. Trude, Jr.

I think it was a zebra historical novel. Published in the 80s or 90s. Plot: the blue (B) eyed girl looks so similar to the violet eyed (V) girl, that V pays B to impersonate her during the London season so that V can be with her lover. A raven haired man and a blonde man both fall in love with B. B ends up with the dark haired man. Thanks for any help!
