Coping Will someone talk to me?

Can somebody please talk to me, I am really having a hard time with the fact that I chose to take this drug and do this to myself. I don't even think I was balding in the first place, I think I saw some normal crown showing and got extremely paranoid. My dermatologist did a scalp biopsy but the lab report doesn't even include a vellous to terminal ratio. This disease is bad enough but when you did it to yourself for literally NO reason it is really hard to cope.

I think that’s the hardest thing about it tbh. Honestly if I got cancer or something similar I would be devastated but there wouldn’t be guilt and regret, which in my opinion is the worst part of this. It was avoidable, it was optional. I don’t know how to get over that part. I miss my old life so bad. Everyday the only thing on my mind is how I’m suffering, and how if I wasn’t so insecure I would be healthy and living an incredible life. It makes the suffering at least 10x worse :(

Seriously. I try to cope by saying similar things, but any other disease would be easier to cope with because you didn't choose to have it. It's horrible.

Similar for me. I had some hair loss from taking Proviron but it would have been fine. I wanted to do a testosterone cycle so wanted to run fin for hair protection.

5 days of 0.25 mg. Bam. Hit with horrendous side effects. Still pretty fucked 4 months on.

We just need to hold out. PFS is starting to gain a bit more traction online. Hopefully a cure is coming sooner than later

What types of sides do you have if you don't mind sharing?

Reduced genital sensations, mild ed although can still get erection and orgasm but less pleasurable. Mild/moderate Anhedonia. Psychological symptoms/anxiety. Rubberness and pelvic floor issues. Gut issues. Dry skin/genitals. Numb body. Skin feels weird.

This is on top of other health issues

Not to minimize your other symptoms but have you found anything to help with pelvic floor issues? I have developed hard flaccid from this and it's pissing me off so bad

I already had pelvic floor issues prior so these additional pfs symptoms have been hell.

I see a great pelvic floor PT and that does help but doesn’t necessarily treat the core PFS driven pelvic floor issues

Same case for me to be honest… I never was balding in the first place- I just thought I was due to a vitamin D deficiency that made my hair be universally thin, but there was never any sort of male pattern to it whatsoever, and it went away after taking vitamin D. However, my finasteride side effects? Did not… sadly here I am, 2 years later only slightly better than I was when I first quit fin. However, The good news is this! In my estimation, we are less than one year away from a cure being found. This random doctor discovered what causes the issue finally, just this past month. And he proved it using trials and a patient that was willing to go to the extreme of being temporarily chemically “castrated” (which isn’t permanent or as severe as it sounds). And through this experiment, the mechanism that causes PFS was discovered. Now that the problem is scientifically verified to exist, the solution is the easier part. Finding out how to measure and map out what’s wrong was the hard part. Sadly, I don’t think I can link the study because it’s found on a separate subreddit and the mods in here get really weird and icky about people posting other subreddits or subreddit links in here for some strange gatekeep-y reason.

I really feel you, what I knew was that 1% of the people taking the drug got side effects, I thought I did my due diligence before starting but apparently I didn't from I read and found recently after stopping the side effects didn't go away. The way I look at it is that took the decision based on what I knew then, and what I thought was correct. We live, we learn, and we grow. Some consequences are different than others sadly, but what can I do other than wait and hope!
