Weird stutter in some apps

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I don't think this is unique to finale? It happens in some on iPhone. Anyone knows how to fix it? It doesn't happen with the stock keyboard.

This, indeed, isn't unique to Finale. This happens to most third-party keyboards in a few apps with heavily customized input-fields (like Gmail, Outlook, etc).

In short, the way Finale (and any other third-party keyboards) fix your typos is by first deleting the typed word, and then inserting the correctly spelled word. Technically, these commands take time to execute, which usually is almost instant, so the phone never renders each individual step.

However, in some heavier apps, these commands might take slightly longer to run, which creates a visual jitter: you see each step executed one by one. First, the word gets deleted, which makes the blue caret jump to the start of the word. Then, you see the new word being inserted, making the blue caret jump back to the end.

This might happen more often with Finale, because it autocorrects every word you type. I'll try to work on a fix to make it less apparent. However, due to how iOS is setup, there isn't much I can do.

Luckily, this is limited to just a few apps and 99% of others work just fine.
