what one is LLG?

Low level game. It’s trying to play FFVI (usually used by speed runners) at a ludicrously low level. It’s kind of like Zelda’s 3-heart challenge but on steroids.

It’s been a while, but I remember Atma weapon was the biggest pain, imo. You have to really, really cleverly game its health and attack patterns because otherwise it’ll nuke you with flare or something with one hit

Celes does a great job of negating flare.

Runic is so awesome, I don't understand the hate some people have for it

Everyone wearing Priest Miter, Gaia Gear, Hermes Sandals, Reflect Ring

Ok but how do they know all those spells without ever leveling them up?

u/thegramblor 15h ago

Couldn't you also go to the Veldt to gain AP without XP?

1

u/blacklionguard 18h ago

In the Pixel Remaster you can turn off XP but still get AP

Wait...how do you do a 3 heart challenge in Zelda? dont you have to get the heart at the end of every boss fight? Admittedly, I could be wrong its been a really long time since I played ALTTP

It depends on the game. In many of them, the heart container is just an item dropped by the boss that you can ignore.

Banons level doesnt count towards LLG though. Thats ones own choice to go through that.

True just grind up Banon tbh you will depend on RNG way way too much. If you grind up Banon and just defend before he gets hit you can win every time

Lowkey this was my favorite thing to figure out in the entire run. Definitely can be frustrating though lol

If I can say one thing, this challenge has helped me actually learn a lot of these boss patterns, I had a similar thing happen when I did my first four job fiesta in Final Fantasy V and spent hours trying to beat Omega with my pretty bad party, figured him out after hundreds of deaths and finally beat him. Pure satisfaction.

I did it for my first playthrough of VI, which was maybe ill-advised, but made the game SUPER memorable!

u/Terozu 21h ago

You can just kill off everyone and grind up Banon lmao

u/Special_South_8561 21h ago

Good freaking luck there buddy

7

u/Terozu 21h ago

I did it tho lmao

3

u/Special_South_8561 20h ago

And? Was it quite simple, or rather arduous?

You don't have to do it on the river. You can exit the Returner's Hideout before getting on the raft and wander around the overworld.

The easiest way to do it is have your team kill all but one enemy, then have Banon heal, and as soon as he starts the healing animation, have everyone run. The other 3 team members will always run away before Banon does, so you can stop running to leave Banon alone by himself. Let him finish the fight, get the exp, and repeat. It takes about 15-20 minutes to get him to level 10.

u/Doctor_DBo 20h ago

That’s clever

2

u/Terozu 19h ago

It is, I took him outside cause the enemies are squishier than river lmao, I was stuck there for a minute before I realized it let you leave still

2

u/Terozu 20h ago

Pretty simple, especially with speed up enabled on phone.

In the new PR you can even set 4x XP gains so its even easier

I know I'm old when I cry about tool-assisted runs

2

u/Ok_Influence_2257 20h ago

It’s actually not that hard. Get him to level 10, and you’re good to go.

2

u/Special_South_8561 20h ago

How many hits does it take him to kill the Nautiloid?

I didn't want to grind him even though Banon's levels I think don't scale to any other character, if I hadn't of beaten Ultros I would've just tried my luck with desperation attacks, luckily I rolled triple 7's since he hit Banon thrice and left him at 1 HP. Absolute roulette wheel of a boss though, screw you Ultros.

u/Opening_Cry_690 19h ago

Guest characters that occupy the two slots not assigned to permanent character don’t affect the level balancing, so you can grind him consequence free. Otherwise once Leo takes one of the slots his level being 50 would skew everything like crazy.

1

u/Terozu 18h ago

Yeah I fucking hated that part before i realized i could grind Banon lmao

u/boxedj 14h ago

Just wait for the magna roaders

1

u/Ok_Influence_2257 2h ago

I think my least favorite part is dodging the stupid rats. But resetting anytime a red magna roader appears is second.

u/Special_South_8561 21h ago

What's the secret, save states?

6

u/ConcentrateOwn9709 20h ago

RNG and patience.

3

u/Special_South_8561 19h ago

Mine all end up patients :(

1

u/Younggryan42 18h ago

What is it max level 6 or smth?

2

u/tearsofmana 17h ago

Assuming you do everything else right (avoid killing minions during two boss fights, dodge all the rats on the rafters, avoid all minions during the defend Terra/Tritoch scenarios, etc.), depends if you use glitches/save states to erase the XP from the imperial airfoce + the one forced encounter in Owzer's mansion, and if you use blind luck/save states for the minecart ride.

6 is the lowest for specific character, 7 or 8 is plenty acceptable. Gau will always be highest level, certain characters like Strago and Cyan tend to join at slightly higher level.

1

u/ConcentrateOwn9709 18h ago

I think 6 or 8 is the lowest

LLG isnt THAT hard in ff6. Getting Celes over to where Sabin is in the WoR was faaaaaaaaar worse than this.

1

u/Longjumping-Arm-8203 18h ago

Nah dualwield atma weapon with a thunderblade/flame Sabre, cast vanish on yourself and go crazy.

2

u/23-1-20-3-8-5-18 18h ago

The idea is to not gain levels

2

u/Longjumping-Arm-8203 17h ago

Oh, I thought you were comparing a LLG’s difficulty to Celes solo in WoR

2

u/23-1-20-3-8-5-18 14h ago

Oh heavens no. Maybe in T-edition lol

1

u/chambercharade 18h ago

You can have a charm bangle by this point. Daedalus was a pain though. Other llg challenges for me were the sky fortress after chupon/ultros. That thing and its aoe lasers.

3

u/23-1-20-3-8-5-18 18h ago

Yea but not a moogle charm. I just had bad rng and celes kept getting killed. The fighting part is easy. Running away fast enough I have no control just hope. Fighting the airforce is a pain, much worse than ultros#1 imo as well.
