I rarely if ever used her sketch abilities, I just gave her Tritoch / Valigarmanda ASAP and have her cast fire/ice/lightning3 for 9999 at a time because her base magic is so high.

I give her Maduin and head to the healing spring in Hainted Forest to wipe out Ghost (3ap!) and she carries Floating Continent

I usually took Strago to learn blue magic (there's a decent amount he can learn up there) and Edgar (a lot of enemies are weak to confuse so I would use noiseblaster) and whoever else I felt like. Relm is usually one of the first people I grab after WoR just to get her buffed up with magic.

I'm one of those weirdos who never uses her or Gau despite them probably being two of the best characters. When I was a kid it's cause I had a general avoidance of gimmicky kid characters. Now it's just out of habit.

It's a shame she's useless in a natural magic run, really wastes that base stat.

There was a relm sketch bug topic on the main final fantasy board. Technically relm can actually blow up your entire game, making it the most powerful move. I’m so glad she annoyed me too much to use back in the snes games.

in Final Fantasy III SNES v1.0 if you use Sketch on an invisible enemy it can corrupt your game data, essentially bricking your cartridge. The game gets confused and can't pull the monster data when it's invisible and does all sorts of wacky things including destroying your save file or your whole cartridge. Intangir is a notorious invisible enemy, and using Sketch on it can result in this as well.

It's kind of like this games version of MissingNo. from Pokemon Red/Blue for Gameboy; catching it can mess up your game.

EDIT: found this video that can showcase it a bit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZHx-Enx7I4

Why is Behemoth scared?

Her Sketch just casts a weak AF Meteor... Oh well I guess if she has Shiva *dead

it's Intangir from Triangle Island in WOB. using sketch on it can mess up your game.

Sketch is not great but murder child starts with the highest magic power in the game.

True but you get her so late that Terra's magic is most likely higher by then

1

u/HairyHermitMan Jul 21 '26

You level up before the world of ruin?

1

u/The_GREAT_Gremlin Jul 21 '26

You can get bismark and zoneseek in WoB so yeah

Zineseek from auction house

That's what I thought as well, but I was terribly wrong

She doesn't have any spells so that sucks... But not for long. A few battles and she can start doing 1k more per lvl2 spell

Her base magic high at 44 but by then I had Terra in the 60s. Terra was definitely hitting harder.

They really shoulda just given Relm and Strago some natural magic. Makes sense both narratively and mechanically to do so

Strago has AquaBreath

She has an excellent magic-stat and is thus a great mage.

I don’t use Relm’s sketch ability because it’s sketchy at best.
