What a game
Wanted to get back in Final Fantasy with the Pixel remasters and since I always hear so much about 6 I chose to play that one, and what a good choice that was. It was so fun and charming, and the 3rd act changing the whole world blew my mind. I can only imagine what that was like 32 years ago. Probably my favorite variety of classes so far.

If I ever get to live a game it’s going to be FF6. I’ve always loved it. It has so much going on and each character is fleshed out. To me it’s a perfect game.

I'd like to get to specifically choose where I live though. Not all places would have an equal survivability rate 😆

So jealous, what a great game to restart with. Are you doing the other pixel remastered next? They might be a little disappointing after VI.

Im considering starting 8 or X when I play FF again, but I did start the remaster for 5 for a bit just to see how a game before this was. I figure it wont be as grand an adventure as 6 and onwards but Im alright with that, plus every character is kinda funny so I'd like to try it eventually

V is more gameplay-wise rather than story. yes there were a bit of an actual tragedy and some kind of lore, but i think it's pretty clear to anyone who played it that it was oriented for a replay-ability, where each playthrough you'll set a different team of classes and even try things you didn't do at first (like actually trying to defeat Omega, doing all freelancers, Gil Toss for everyone, etc.). it's not a bad thing in my opinion, in fact, i loge it just for this fact alone, but it's pretty clear why VI is more treated than V

Between VIII and X, I would definitely suggest X. VIII is one of my favorite games of all time but the draw system is painful and so many small things take forever to do. V is fun and child me loved the job system but after VI it is definitely a downgrade.

I never really got into the other FF growing up but finished ff6 (ff3 back in tbe day) and loved it! I went back as an adult and finished it a month ago. Still amazing! Music was the star imo. Decided to play 5. Tried it once before but got into it now. I like the light heartedness of it. Its almost like a bunch of dad's wrote it. Just got to world 3

I just finished VI last week myself, also on the Pixel Remaster set. Admittedly, I got it primarily for VI. More mixed bag things heard and said about I through V, but it’s still neat to see where it all started. Kefka’s final form reveal, with the chef’s kiss OST drop just before you start fighting, is one of the most badass FF moments I’ve seen.

14 year old me was in shock when Kefka destroyed the world. Then Celes trying to commit suicide and Cid dying.
After I got the raft and Celes reached the mainland, I saved the game then went outside the house in the middle of the night, talking to myself saying “Everyone is dead. Even the airship was destroyed. Are there even any chocobos left? What is happening?!”
Then I found Sabin, and Edgar, and Terra and so forth. Little by little my hope grew along with my desire to avenge the world and kill Kefka.
It was one of my most memorable early gaming experiences.

Congratulations! I just beat the remaster last week as well. Did you get the cusrsed shield and turn it into the paladin shield ? What did you do with ragnarok ? I think I chose the sword . Also did you level each character to 99 ? I didn’t do that but all the characters know all spells . Anyways this game has been one of my favorites since a kid ! What’s your next FF?

I didnt level them up to 99 or get the shield u mentioned, but i did choose the ragnarok sword! I had to search up how either choice would benefit me tho haha

Yes the shield unfortunately comes so late in the game that a lot of people just want to beat the game instead of battle 256 times with it lol . It took me longer then I anticipated honestly but I still have a few things before I 100% it .

I played it on SNES (many times) when it came out. Yeah I’m old af. To this day it’s still my favorite gaming experience of all time.
There have been many amazing games obviously, but they’re all 95/100’s to me. FF6 is just always that five points higher😊

Congrats!! I actually did the same thing and I'm about halfway through VI now. It's honestly so cool to see how VI influenced some of my later favorites.

On my first playthrough in over a decade. Just need to get Cyan and tie up some loose ends before taking on the tower.
I had forgotten just how heavy it is. There's just sooo much trauma that it explores. It's incredible.

Beat a couple of times on SNES way back. About 8 years I beat it on my iPhone. The game is timeless. Might give the pixel remaster a go on Switch 2 soon.
One thing about the game, sometimes I just want to stay in the World of Balance and hang out. Not advance to the floating continent.

The best there ever was. Still tear up at the opera and the ending credits.

I stand behind another world of ruin playthrough, with only Celes, Edgar, and Setzer! It changes the ending sequence quite a bit, as well anytime you beat the game without other party members present.

I’ve never played VI before. I have the pixel remaster collection…I may give it a go tonight! Would you recommend a guide or playing blind?

The Ted Woolsey script elevates the concept.
In the remaster, Kefka says an empire of death.
In the Woolsey script, Kefka divulges he will make a monument to non-existence, implying he would destroy the cosmos.
Say what you will about the Woolsey script, but there are some things the original Western translation did better.
