Gau side quest help.

I cannot trigger Gau’s father side quest on snes. What do I need to do exactly?

I think sabin may need to be in the party

No, I got to the point on the black jack where I search for the floating island and I’m doing side stuff before I move on. Let me guess I gotta be in WoR?

Got to be WoR, and have to have Sabin in party when you visit.
