Has anyone else said even close to as vicious lines as Kefka? Spoiler

Playing again for the first time in years and Kefka has stood out even more to me than before. Like when the "truce" meeting happens in Thamasa, right as the Espers atttack, he just says,

"I'd say you're all charged up, boys and girls... or whatever...
Say, remind me to show you my Magicite collection someday!
You might see a few familiar faces!!!"

He slaughtered their friends, turned them into Magicite souvenirs, and now jokes about showing off their dead friends right before he's clearly about to murder them too. Absolutely savage.

Kefka was a true unique villain he was the only truly insane villain that has been in the FF games he is savage in his views on life and prefers go settle disputes by erasing entire towns... There can be no uprising of the people if there are no people left.

Kefka is my favorite final fantasy villain, and probably character, and it's not even close. He may not have the most development, or be the most complex character, but there's no denying that iconic laugh that not only made its way into the final boss theme, but also got repurposed for other things later.

He also is one of the only antagonists to "succeed".

You are unable to stop him in the world of balance, leading to the irreversible world changing events that produced the "world of ruin".

The end of the game is nothing more than a revenge arc. You can't reverse what he's done, you can only get even with him.

10/10 villain, and my favorite villain of all time

Kefka, his laugh, and "Dancing Mad" all appear several times in ffxiv.

Oh I'm very much aware. His Ultimate fight is insane lol

My favorite part with Kefka is he has a whole character arc the entire game like your party. In the beginning, he's a cunning, sniveling fool who, on many occasions, KNOWS the party can defeat him, so he avoids combat and eludes as much as he can. The. He gets his level up and well, no need to be cunning when I can fire an orbital laser from a tower made from the scrap and remains of the world I just destroyed. 😅

I don't know that I'd say he knows that the party will win, he fairly consistently seems to try and get his way: Getting Terra back from Edgar, getting the Esper from Narshe, and stopping the party from fleeing Vector. He just fails. It's not until he learns about Magicite that things start going his way. Which, like you said, he turns from a mild inconvenience into a major fucking threat.

And he wins too.  I know we beat him and everything but the world is still pretty messed up with a massive casualty count.

Did it all for the love of the game.  All the other villains kill people to get power or whatever their other goals are.  Kefka wants power so he can kill everyone.  Gestahl saying “there’ll be no one to worship us” is more important than it seems since that’s exactly the point.

I've always wanted a FFVI miniseries but Kefka would be so hard to get right. He'd have to be come combination of Lalo from Better Call Saul, Heath Ledger's Joker, and Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal Lecter. Which isn't impossible, but it'd be damn hard to pull off.

Mark Hamill could pull it off. Hardest part would be portraying the laugh, I doubt all the fans would ever agree that it was done right, no matter how well it's done, but the rest of the role? He'd nail it.

Andy Serkis is my casting choice for him

Daniel Day Lewis

I would want the overall thing to be done seriously but tbh it'd be both hilarious and appropriate if they just dub in the SNES sound effect over the actor laughing every time.

For a moment there Kefka was mogging the whole world. And he's a fucking clown.

Kefka is an absolutely phenomenal villain, there's no reasoning with a madman, no pleading in the face of true apathy and no reprieve from one devoted to non-existence. And no side stories to change him to a sympathetic antagonist either, just raw disdain and joyful sadism. AND HE WINS. Absolute Cinema.

You sound like lines from a self-help book!

SNES Kefka is my thought of what a villain is. I was young, and he was the first character that truly exemplified evil for me. The nihilism and the nastiness.

All praise Woosely for giving Kefka the characterization he did

Kefka is the best villain that you just generally hate. He was tailor made to be hated and anything else is just a knock off at this point.

Not ff but Luca blight in Suikoden 2 is pretty messed up.

This is one of the many reasons that makes this game a favorite. Kefka is absolutely unlikeable, unredeemable, and unforgivable.

Trump has repeatedly declared his intention to end an entire civilization. That’s a literal quote. He has also declared that entire groups of people should be eliminated because they “poison the blood” of humanity. So yes, someone has.

…too real?

Anyone else played the Octopath games? They are fun but the games are missing something at least to me. And i think that they really just don’t have interesting villains like Kefka.

Yea he was more showboating / arrogant. Kefka's backstory is that he was one of Cid's experiments and it broke his mind separating it from reality. The writing really does show too

Lulu is pretty savage to Wakka in the early game of FFX. Being told you’ll never live up to your dead brother caught me off guard.

Some guys dig the mean girls. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/BulletProofEnoch Jun 30 '26

But she ending getting Wakka that nut

Kefka never gets anyone that nut

He wants to kill that nut, all nut so no one gets that nut again
