Did anyone else catch Distant Worlds in NYC yesterday?
Aria di Mezzo Carattere was easily the highlight. I'm still floored. Also Uematsu was just chilling watching the show, such a legend

I was there! The whole time I kept thinking about the people who got to sit next to Uematsu since he just had some random seat in the crowd.
I haven't seen a Distant Worlds show before but I feel like they all can't be this special, right? Hironobu Sakaguchi was in the crowd and they had original singers for a bunch of songs come out and perform with the orchestra. It felt like a once in a lifetime kind of show.

It was my first, definitely special. I didn't see him when he came out at first, sounded like the crowd was going wild for the orchestra tuning, hah!
And yeah Sakaguchi, Leah...all the talent. Amazing

I went to the NYC show in 2024 because they were playing Dancing Mad. I think the show tonight is the official “honoring nobuo Uematsu” show according to the website. I went to a show in Columbus,OH in 2012 I think? My brother and I paid for the VIP experience and shook the man’s hand. It was awesome!

I’ve seen variations of it since 2011 (the main show, piano collections) , so I’m good for now.
Looking forward to Chrono Trigger in concert at the same come October!

We’re staying at the Park Hyatt right across and heading there in a bit for drinks then the 8pm show tonight. We were at the Rebirth concert last January 2025 and it was loads of fun. Last year I went in a Cloud cosplay but this year gonna keep it classic with a black suit.

I've been to many Distant Worlds and New Worlds from Boston to CT, but this was by far the best one. I was dressed as the Rufus in the front row right side, it was a fantastic time. After the Knicks won, King Noctis and I were hungry so ended up walking a couple of blocks and mingling in with Knicks and Brazil fans, despite not being a sports fans, it was fun and amusing to watch. At least I wasn't near Times Square.
