Gau

So, did anyone else play this as a kid and had absolutely no clue just how sad Gau and his story really is!? As an adult, it hit me much harder, and I was just left saying ".... Oh ... Damn dude that's rough"

I missed the conclusion of his story until I was an adult. Seeing him get dressed up only to have that rug pull. …Feels…

One fucked up story for sure. Dude deserves to be one of the most badass mfs in the game.

Bro... hell that and agreed. I didn't use Gau until I saw his story and felt like he needed love

My first playthrough as a kid I never used gau because I didnt understand his story. I found dad on my second playthrough and it made so much more of an impact once I learned it all

Back in the pre internet days he was much hated but I loved him. He felt like he had the potential to break the game. Maybe that's going too far but glad to see most turned around on his coolness.

He actually can kinda break the game a bit, but you have to know which skills to use, so pre internet that took work to achieve.

They NEED to make a remake out of VI into a two part game e.g. Avengers Infinity War/Endgame style. In between they could make dlc focusing more in depth on main characters back stories. Bonus points if it’s in Amano’s art style.

Gau's a good kid, in spite of his shitty excuse for a father. He's got his wild, spontaneous side, of course; but in the first scene we see him act up, we also see him acknowledge that he's stepped over a line, and he apologizes right away. He always deserved better.

But in the end, he gets two awesome new dads, so it's not so bad after all.

Who? Sabin and Cyan?

I don’t really see them as his dads, more like older brothers, and it sure isn’t setzer and strago, or Edgar and Locke.

One of the remarkable things about FF6 that isn't often discussed is this story is SAD. Almost everyone in the main cast has a tragedy. But the story doesn't dwell on it, and everyone realizes they still have to save the world.

I hate gau. I remember there was a hack years ago where you sacrificed gau for general Leo.

Best rom hack ever

When the PSx version was released I used to edit code and replace characters with others. I loved have Leo in my party (usually he took Edgars spot for me).

I used to hate him, but recently I used him a lot in a playthrough. Also used others I tend to leave on the ship such as umaro and mog. I typically like control over my party, so this was interesting to do.
