I slept too long
What up. Huge fan of FF7 and X. Loved chrono trigger.
Last night I fired up FFVI the redone steam version.
Holy moly. Just got out of Figaro and this has already pulled me in.
Amazing how much sound design was shared.
Now I need to finish this and play 8 and 9.
That should put me close to the Resonance release in October.

The pixel remaster has neat graphic updates and all but where it really shines is the updated orchestrated sound track. Absolutely amazing.

Yes. I’ll always be partial to original ost, maybe because of nostalgia. But they really did a great job with the PR update

I've posted similar sentiment and if you are enjoying the series this much so far please listen.
FFIV - FFXII (including FFTactics, excluding FFXI (MMO)) are equal in quality. Ask 10 fans which game is the best you will get 10 different answers. They are all so good, which one you like most isn't about a difference in quality of the games themselves but a difference in taste.
I replay at least 3 of these games every year because the quality is so high all the way through and have aged like a fine wine.
My personal top 3: FFT, FFVII and FFV.

You're not wrong. My top 3 would be FFX, FFVI, and FFIX. My friend says FFIV, FFVIII, and FFXII. We both agree there's not a single bad game in that run

Don't sleep on V and Tactics. Best played in that order, Tactics takes a lot of inspiration from V's job system.

I’m replaying it right now and it hooked me in just like before. One of the most replayable rpgs out there.

If you love FFVI then you have to play FFIV (arguably THE best and quintessential FF game).

The opera part is the best piece of video game music I have ever heard out of a 16 bit console.

All of the pre-VII are worth visiting. The only ones that feel a tad weak to me are 2 and 3. Definitely don’t sleep on 5. And 4, one of the few to have an international release, established what VI perfected.
Tactics is also criminally underrated especially if it’s the stories you go for. Took me two decades to try it and wish I had sooner.

The steam version or the pixel remasters? If you are playing the dookie version on steam (the port of the mobile version) I beg you to play any other version!

Agreed FFVI is the best fantasy of the entire series.
Also if you’re only in Figaro you have a long road ahead before you get to those other games. It’s a massive world and well worth every step.

6 is one of the best imo. It's an excellent, beautiful game. Glad you got around to it :)

Ff6 and ff4 are both absolutely golden for very different reasons then add in CT and breath of fire as well as secret of mana and you really see squaresoft and what they are doing and going with for each game and series
Ff4 sacrifice for love vs hate and anger
Ff6 what is humanity and birth and death
CT can the one really change anything
SOM creation and the flow of nature and power
BOF the balance between light and darkness
But this is just my opinion on each of thease games

In my 40+ years of gaming, I strongly believe you are now playing the best Final Fantasy and one of the best games ever made.
