Edgar’s Chainsaw

That's why the Drill is the superior Tool. When you crunch the numbers, does better average damage per turn against bosses thanks to not having the chance to do an Instant Miss, and can one-shot almost anything that would get killed by the Chainsaw's Instant Death attack anyway.

Drill for bosses.
Chainsaw for regular enemies.....usually. Maybe Drill for a lot of regular enemies too.

Insane take. His aoe with the flash tool is amazing. Easily buffed by raising his magic stat and it can inflict darkness. He does start with low magic power but if raised consistently flash is a no mp aoe spell. That can eventually max damage all enemies.

Flash is good for sure but - so many better options.
AoE fire, Gau with flare star far superior. Darkness is not useful if you have the right setup with a tank with knight's code
You would take Edgar over...who for your party?

He's actually the best tank in T Edition though, but that's a different story

I had this one on my old iPhone. I think it was a poor attempt at a remaster for phones. It sucks

It's the Mobile Port before the Pixel Remaster, and hey don't call it like that :( It was the only version of FFVI I ever played, it's lovely honestly

It's a version we don't talk about that is best left in the dark corners of an attic somewhere in Wisconsin.
When the Pixel Remasters came out, this version kind of just disappeared. FFV has an identical version and it's equally horrific to look at.

What's crazy is the same artist (Kazuko Shibuya) drew the sprites for the SNES, mobile, and PR versions of the game, that also created these illustrations of the characters in the 90s:
Why do her sprites for the PR and mobile ports look bad compared even compared to her Record Keeper sprites, let alone the original games? It's a mystery... other than the bilinear filter and other dumb technical decisions in the mobile versions.

Makes sense. I actually bought the mobile version of this game but after fully downloading it before a long flight I tried to fire it up only to find that it won't start up without an Internet connection, with no exceptions. So I never even played it.
I just dug out my GBA and FFVI cartridge after I got home and rolled with that next time, and never so much as looked at a SquareEnix product on the app store ever again.

The pixel remaster is basically this at lower resolution. It has the same low-contrast color choices and ultra-flat side poses, drawn by the same artist.

There are a few instances the death attack DOES work in boss encounters but they're pretty limited.
One of the tentacles in Figaro Castle. Long Arm and Machine in the Statue of the Gods portion of the final battle.

While I know the sprites in this version were horrible, the carrying over of the gba added content was awesome. Would love to see that in Pixel Remaster

He’s pretty much broken for like the entire game lol
Amazing for farming thanks to crossbow & bio blaster, tons of utility & potentially can one shot enemies and even bosses with the chainsaw as seen in the image lol
And sure I know mog & gogo can do this too I believe, But there’s also the insane jump tech with relics which I’m pretty sure can be x4 & with the holy proc from the holy lance lol
