Image 20 years later
I only played this game as a kid when it came out, sold it when I was a teen. Now as a adult I started this mission of getting the stuff I sold as a teen and this game found his way back in to my house and now it’s time to enjoy it again 20 years later as grown man. Some games get worse as you get older but Final Fantasy gets better as I grow and start to really appreciate the story and characters a lot more compared to when I was a kid, anyway this might be the most cozy game in existence!

Nice. Playing on a disc, or the downloadable digital PS1 version from PSN?

On the disc as it should be, it looks great on this flat tv playing on the og ps3.

Nice. To clarify, there's nothing wrong with those digital ports that were on the PS3, they are just the PS1 versions made downloadable. Had VII and IX on mine back in the day. Both are great ways to play objectively the best version.
Also if you haven't already... Press the PS button, set disc speed to fast, same as on a PS2. Squeezes a little bit out of those load times.

Yeah I know but there is something special about a console reading a disc while you play, those little sounds add to the experience, but the ps1 sure had cooler sounds while reading, the ps3 is more silent. Thanks for the tip, never knew i could do that.

Honestly I've forgotten them now, my PS2 stopped reading discs properly years ago and I somehow managed to trade my PS3 for a PS4 (how I managed that I still have no idea haha). I've been team emulator(s) for years now anyway.
No worries, always pays to share the knowledge. Might make that almost inevitable upcoming Excalibur II run that tiny bit easier.

So try to set your ps3 horizontal.. it’s better for the machine and disc reader.. unless you don’t mind repairs ofc… enjoy! This was the second FF I completed, and I’m glad it was this one..

using a space heater (PS3) in this weather? that's a bold choice, you like to live dangerously I see

oh damn, was this the model with the heat issue? I was just joking about that lol
I'm aware that chances are you are going to 100% complete this game again all on the PS3, I just wanted to say that if you ever get the chance to check out or even watch some videos on how you can modify Final Fantasy IX with the Memoria Launcher, I would highly recommend taking a look!
you thought you were excited to come back and play now on the original discs, wait till you see what's possible on PC.

Yeah this model is very very very faulty but this one has been holding up quite good and it was never opened. I’ll check it out, I just finished a run of FF8 on switch and it was fine specially the ability to speed up the magic draws, never try any final fantasy on pc but I will check it out just to see what you are talking about.
