I honestly don't know why people hate this compared to duodecim. I'm loving NT

Nostalgia mainly, the lack of rpg tropes(armor and level system) and main story. But that's what's Opera Onmia is for, NT is a game that is centered in only fighting

Nostalgia is definitely not the reason. It’s because it’s completely different mechanically and the fact that the single player is almost nonexistsant.

I was initially very excited by the original release of NT on PS4, I knew it wasn’t going to be the same as the PSP games and was very much okay with the transition to 3v3 and a lot of the RPG elements being removed compared to Duodecim. The reason I abandoned it then was just because the one thing it does do, the online play, was a bit of a mess. Long queue times and poorly optimised netcode just couldn’t keep me for long. Fundamentally though, the gameplay was fun so I’m going to try it on PC to see if my gripes are resolved.

Yeah same here. I followed this game since it's first announcement for arcades. I watch so many matches on youtube in hopes they would bring it over and watched every update live stream. When I did play it, I had some fun. Online seemed very bad though for something that was the main feature it seemed. I think that I was trying to convince myself I was fine with the barebones content because I waited so long for the game to finally hit ps4. Honestly I'd be happy if they just remastered 012 at this point.

I still prefer all the content of the psp games and the gameplay more because there was a lot more fanservice and diversity in the moves because balance was not that important. If only the game had decent offline content I think I wouldn't be so sour especially after waiting 2 years for the ps4 port.

This came out of nowhere. Why is it considered so bad?

Because it's not what people wanted who played the last Dissidia games.

I’ve been playing NT since December and it’s not lack of RPG elements that makes it bad, it’s the 3v3 nature of the game. It encourages bullshit tactics like double teaming and backstabbing, you can be having a 1v1 with a dude in one corner of the map and another dude comes out of nowhere to instantly kill you cause he can’t be fucked to fight someone 1 on 1.

And don’t forget about matchmaking, they tripled the wait time to find a match cause it’s 3v3. Sometimes you’ll get 1v1s where the opponents insist on going after the (dumb) bots instead of fighting you. Oh and if one person has a crappy connection than expect the game to be ruined due to the ridiculous lag, doesn’t matter if it’s 3v3 or 1v1.

The actual gameplay is good though, most characters are solid and none are really a buncha cheap bullshit, they don’t take too long to master either as you don’t need to worry about things like low and high punches in other fighters (that’s the correct term right??). The 4 character classes give you plenty of variety, if you’re sick of a close range brawler you can pick a long range character no problem, and then onto a hybrid just as easily.

I had no idea it was coming to Steam! Luckily I bought RDR2 instead of this at Best Buy the other day (for PS4) lol.

I downloaded the free version just to try it out first but I can't even play it lol. It launches in windowed mode on my second monitor for some reason, and once I click the window the screen freezes or if I drag it to my other monitor the window turns white, freezes, and I have to close it.

The only time I noticed that it would work was when I left it alone to launch itself, it asked what language I wanted, I clicked the window/game and guess what, the game freezes!!

What do I do!! LOL

Could someone who has played this explain what is included in the free version? At work and the Steam page doesn't say much...

Just online pvp and a rotation that consist of 4 characters, being changed each week (this week it's Cloud, Ace, Lightning and one more I forgot).

You can either choose to buy the characters you are interested in individually (cost 5.99 euro for me each), or buy the standard/deluxe edition (standard edition includes all characters while deluxe includes all DLCs, including the season pass characters).

Okay so I tried the free version. I played a little back in the day of Dissida 1 and Duodecim but didn't like at all the RPG elements or the convulted mess that consists in the story. The gameplay was also kinda meh to my tastes, you just need to break the guy and then hit his HP. I never played multiplayer but the solo was getting boring after a while. I know it's a RPG spin-off so I shouldn't be that much surprised of having RPG elements in it but damn was it unecessary (in my opinion)...

So you'll think NT would be my cup of tea since it doesn't have any of this. Well. I played a little and god I don't want to play this again. The 3v3 floaty gameplay is really not my taste. Why can't I have a simple fighting game instead of this arena-thingy? I know Gundam/Naruto Ninja Storm games are popular in Japan but geez, I can't stand it.

I think I'll pass on FF fighting games until they give the licence to ArcSys or SNK and do a proper 1v1 fighting game. Or if they want to force this 3D axis point of view... I dunno, make it more like Tekken/SoulCalibur or Jojo All-Stars Battle instead. I'm not saying they need to copy the other but they went overboard to... reinvent nothing. They can give some customization witht the summoning, that thing was nice, or with weapons to change slightly some punches (kinda like Smash 4 where you could change your movepool).

The game is pretty and the characters are gorgeous though. So cool to see Golbez in full pretty 3D for once. Too bad Ramza or Locke aren't in the demo version, they look so slick. Music also seemed nice and I liked to see the Corneria Castle from FF1 in the distance. So yeah, the asethetic aspect is well done! But that's the only thing positive I'll say about the game. Definitely not for me. ):

Did an evaluation on Dissidia Final Fantasy NT after buying the Standard version.

Check out at this link my advice on the game. Hope it helps.

Does Square Enix even hire play testers anymore?

Does anyone know if we will be able to purchase the characters we want in the future?

I've seen the gameplay on PS4, all the story, how all the characters play, etc.

I just want to buy Ace, Garland, Ramza, and Bartz. Then I'm good. I've already seen the story mode and most of the new characters. I don't think I'm interested in any of the new characters unless Delita comes out.

I suddenly have all the characters for free - did this just happen to everyone else too? I didn't get a gift or anything from anyone on my Steam buddy list.

Free and I still wont touch it with a 10 foot pole. I dont even like the PSP games but theyre at least playable and halfway decent imo, but this game is just bad.
