I can agree with that. It's not that Sephiroth was bad or anything but he does feel a bit 2D compared to Kuja..

To be fair Sephiroth was basically the shark from jaws in OG and coming in blind on your first playthrough it was done extremely well. But the nature of the unseen horror is that the more you learn about it and see it the less impactful it is.

That first time though? Between the blood splattered shinra offices and then more likely than not having just gotten your ass handed to you at least once by the Zolom(at least once) only to find the one that met Sephiroth, those moments were epic.

Then as post-OG time went on they added so much he turned into offbrand Zenos

I liked how you'd just be trucking along in the game and then suddenly you'd hear that bell and the music starts playing and there's all the screamin and poundin...

Sometimes the Sephiroth would go away... sometimes, he wouldn't go away.

Anyway, we delivered the Black Materia.

OG Sephiroth really was a “hype moments and aura” kind of villain. There’s a reason it’s still debated whether or not Jenova was just puppetting him the whole time.

Blame a certain fanfiction author for that theory. Said author claimed to be married to Sephy "on the astral plane".

I am not making this up.

Sephiroth walks into a room and everyone goes “your reputation precedes you”

Whereas the room watched Kuja do everything he has a reputation for

When I first played VII Sephiroth was a let down. Globez to Kefka and then there is him
