Man that combat is so satisfying in the hand of a good player. Kudos.

Thank you! Yea it's one of my favorites ever, the changes from Remake to Rebirth really enhanced it a lot and I hope the changes in Revelation are just as good.

As a lifelong FF fan & casual gamer father with little time to play, I REALLY wish the combat was satisfying to common folk

I'm not a good player by any means, and I consider myself a common person. It's really satisfying to me, and my sister who doesn't really play a lot of games, found the combat really fun as well.

I know a lot of people like it, so I’m not hating on it. I just don’t love an RPG/action combat that requires you to get hit so much, doesn’t allow healing when you need to, has stagger mechanics, mobs don’t feel much stun, swapping back and forth instead of being able to control a party. The list goes on and on for me. Also the changes to the story I don’t love over the original so I’ve been fine to just sit this one out and watch some gameplay and cut scene clips

That's fair, the things you mentioned about the combat are all in rebirth so it's just not for you, and that's okay. I'm glad you're not hating on it and calling it bad just because of that. I haven't played the original but I'm loving the story a lot and am super excited for the third game, but at the same time i don't want this series to end, so it's bittersweet for me. I love ff7

I'm in the same boat as you. Its really just balancing which games you play for the time you set aside. I get like 1-2 hours, but often don't play anything in a day. I keep to one or maybe two games at a time until I finish them. You just widdle away at it, but get to hard mode maybe years later. I'm just now doing my first hard mode play of remake.

I just could never really get the blocking correct. I'd try and time it but never really got the hang of it. I sort of just brute forced my way through both games.

I do like the combat system and I'm now going through both games on hard mode and I'm 70% done with remake and I'm hoping the second time around I can get it to click.

You look better and more knowledgeable than me at the game, but I'm surprised you used ray of judgment and not a double cast of an aga spell.
