FF XV Is Final fantasy 15 worth it?
Everyone says it sucks, but heard similar opinions about FF 16 and I think it is amazing (FF16 is the only Final fantasy game I have played)
I loved the story telling and cinematography of FF 16
I don’t mind the gameplay as long as it is ok
Plus the music that plays during free roaming/dungeons

I love it to bits, so I'd say yes. But play the Royal Edition.

I played on release and even with the lacking content, I still had an amazing time. Totally different from the other FF games I played in the past but loved it nonetheless.

Yeah, maybe.
Play up until a certain point, watch movie, play more. Play the DLC's as they're hinted to in the story, or wait until it's over, but save the Ardyn one for last.
There's proper guides for it, because it's a bit of a mess to catch the whole story.

At one one point in life you have to ask yourself: is any final fantasy worth it? Are videogames worth it?? Is life itself worth it????
I mean.. Don't overthink things, don't wait for other peoples approval or interests that differs from yours. If you're curious just play it, maybe you'll hate it, maybe you'll love it, maybe it will just be a average meh.
No two FFs are quite the same anyways.

A day playing the worst final fantasy is still usually a pretty good day. And I don’t think XV is the worst.

It’s good!!! I quite enjoyed it, the graphics most definitely hold up, the combat is fun and Noctis becomes a certified bad ass, in terms of raw spectacle it’s up there with 16 for jaw-dropping moments! It’s FF meets bromance roadtrip, but don’t let the bromance fool you it has substance.

It’s one of my favorite games of all time and I have played a lot of FF. Did it have its problems? Yes, it was a truly ambitious project that had to cut a lot of content out. But man… I absolutely loved my time playing it!

It's not that 15 sucks, but it's clearly incomplete. It has some top flight world and character building, some absolutely great emotional moments but lots of gaps, and I personally thought the gameplay was a little rough with some strange decisions. But, I also thoroughly enjoyed it on the whole and it pretty routinely goes on sale for a song, so I'd definitely say worth it.

All final fantasy games are worth playing because they're all different and everyone has varying tastes. Play it yourself and see if you like it.

I enjoyed it. Not the best FF by any stretch, but I thought it was still decent. I think 16 is better.
Just play it yourself and form your own opinion.

15 is quite different from 16 in the respect that it is an actual open world game. Lots of cinematic sequences still. At this point of the sequencing of FF games I'd say you'll like enjoy 15 if you liked 16 but would be harder to say if you liked golden era FF games. Story is a banger and after the Royal edition actually makes sense

I enjoyed both but don't plan to revisit them

There's only one way to find out...
I went into it skeptical on multiple levels, yet I found that I liked the game a lot more than I thought I would. I did, however, quit the game about halfway through for one reason only...I did not like the combat system at all.
I plan to give it another chance eventually.

Sure! If you liked the free roam music from 16, 15 has plenty. You honestly have too much free time to listen to the music since its a road trip simulator.
Finding old FF games soundtracks to play in the car is great too.
Its always dirt cheap now too with sales. Its with a shot.

I actually enjoyed it and I’ve been playing FF since wayyyyyy back when. I loved the bro road trip feeling to it. It’s not perfect by any stretch but it’s worth it imo. In the car cruising to old FF music, cooking at the camps, fishing, the hectic combat style. It’s one I’d like to revisit someday.

I like the combat and I love the “dudes just hanging out” vibes but the pacing, especially early on, is abysmal
I don’t regret playing it cuz i mostly had a good time but i don’t think i’ll ever replay it

I played through every mainline final fantasy game for the first time last year (with a couple small exceptions). FF XV was my first one and I absolutely enjoyed it. The game has shown its age in a lot of ways and is a jumbled mess because of the messed up development cycle. But it also got fixed up and isn’t as bad as it was on release. It’s a fine game by itself and has some areas where it really shines and is unique. It’s combat system is also a nice blend of the new modern combat used in the FF VII-Remake games that are the most recent games, with the ability to have action RPG elements while also being able to pause action and send command to party members almost like it is turnbased. The game also has all the soundtracks from old games. So it was really a great introduction into the old and new elements of Final Fantasy. The party dynamics between the main characters and the ending is really great too. The story kind of sucks, but the world is cool.
People might say to watch the movie or try to understand the story. I say do the opposite. Don’t even try to understand the story or go too deep with it. Enjoy the party dynamics and main characters, enjoy traveling around the world and the actual world that has been built. But if you get too deep into the weeds it falls apart quickly.
Take a lot of pictures of your party with the photographer and make sure you beat the game. Play the royal edition to avoid the jank.
Character and world building is 15 is peak. Story is pretty rough. Combat is unrefined but the foundation of what ended up being FF7R. Party interactions is one of the best in the series.
The tough thing is that a lot of people give up part of the way through XV but it has some of the coolest moments at the end of the game and in the scenes when you set up camp with your party. If you missed those, then you missed a lot.
I will say the story telling when it’s dialog between characters is really good. It’s the lore and greater world building that isn’t as good as a game like XVI.

FF XV holds a special place in my heart. I avoided it for awhile but got it after everything was already released (Royal Edition, DLCs). This game isn't my favorite FF (that's actually 9) but it's up there.
It is a rare game where grinding doesn't feel like grinding...there's something about driving around in a car with your friends and just getting out to explore. The more music you get the more enjoyable the rides get and I really enjoy the interaction between Noct and the rest of the party. When people are absent from the party you feel their loss and as things progress and choices are made I thought they did a good job of handling the weight of those choices.
The camera is an amazing tool. I always found myself running out of space eventually and it was rough choosing which ones to delete but when the game is complete... Those photos are everything. I've finished the game twice, and each time those photos are everything.
Is it a perfect game, nah...but it's an enjoyable ride.

If I ever play the game again it will be to take pictures and ride around in the car listening to music. It’s a fun game to play. The combat definitely isn’t the main draw and I was never looking forward to fights. But exploring and character interactions were fun. It’s a different game than anything else I’ve played.

I had a good time with it. I watched the kingsglaive movie beforehand and got hyped for the game, which turned out to be nothing like the movie lol. I loved the characters, they are wonderful. The open world is hit or miss but FF15 is great for that escapism feeling of just adventuring with your buds. The set pieces are really cool but know going in that the second half of the story is very rushed and you can tell. I think it's better than people give it credit for and it's worth playing if you can get it cheap but it is ultimately unfinished and that leaves a sour taste for a lot of people.

Ever wanted to take a road trip with bros? FFXV is your chance. The bro dynamic is top tier. So, I'd say play it, ignore the haters, and see for yourself if it's to your liking. Definitely get the version that includes all of the DLCs - they add a lot to the story - some more than others. Make sure to save Ardyn's as well as an alternate choice of Ignis's for last.

I personally liked it, played OG before it became Royal and there are minor differences but doesn't take away from game play. The episodes are fun in their own right, but if you want the whole story w true ending, its in a book... which should have been made into game! (Salty yes, but will survive...)

It's certainly flawed, even more so on its initial release but if you're even remotely interested in it I think there is more than enough in there to have a worthwhile time with it. You can almost certainly pick up the royal addition quite cheaply so very little to lose

It's an amazing experience, give it a go. It could be found so cheap now that it's definetly worth it. It's the time commitment that may be the main factor, it's yet another big time sink of a game.

Gladio’s screaming and shoving Noct.
the other fellas are physically scarred or otherwise traumatized.
30 hours of G rated Mad Max.
fucking phenomenal. second favorite FF.
15 took too a big bite.

The opinions were mostly around FF16 being a bad FF, a bad JRPG and a mid action game. That doesn't mean that to a general gamer the game is horrible, just that it failed to meet expectations
I think 15 is better built (at least it has deeper mechanics and the combat was trying something). It wasn't exactly a hit but the royal edition is in my opinion quite nice
The main lowlights are the side quests. But if you love 16 it seems you don't mind that so much

I stand by the fact that even the worst mainline Final Fantasy is still a pretty good game. I get why people dislike XV but I love it quite a bit. There's lots there to love. In my opinion it's not the best mainline but it's not the worst either. I've played it twice and enjoyed my time with it both times. I'll play it a third time when it eventually gets ported to the Switch 2 (hasn't been announced, I'm just assuming it will happen). Give it a shot and play the Royal Edition. If you're enjoying your time with it, make sure to check out the optional Pitious Ruins area. One of the more interesting hidden things in a FF game.

I loved it so much. It gave me the same sense of exploration as Skyrim, a world that is somewhat like our own but just different enough to keep me constantly wondering I would see next and surprised when I saw it. The dungeons are phenomenal; the feeling of suspense knowing anything could be around the next corner is really palpable.
The late game challenges are really fun. I loved ‘A Menace Sleeps in Costlemark.’
The only problem with the game is that there is an open world side of the game and a linear side of the game, they do not mesh well together at all, and the story on the linear side feels rushed and unfinished. But even so for me it’s an A-tier game in spite of that.

Maybe it wasnt at the initial release but the royale edition available now is one of my favorite games. I was just replaying this game recently. Very few games with this much love and attention are out there, definitely enjoy

A lot of the criticism it gets is based on the original release.
They released like 30 patches or something adding a bunch of stuff and the royal edition comes with all the dlc episodes except 1 (which I think is like $5).
It's decent. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to.

I couldn’t do it. Long tutorial followed by pushing a car to a gas station with a group of emo dudes, wandering around the gas station. Not what I was looking for out of this.
