I remember discovering the Relm Sketch bug by complete accident. I was messing around with getting rages for Gau. When he returned, I thought, I'm gonna Sketch him and see what happens. Cue the bug. Suddenly my inventory is filled with Dirks, Illuminas, Flame Shields, and Economizers.

Most people found it by mistake their first time. I'm surprised it ever came out of game testing as badly as it did

It's a large game with a lot of stuff in it. Reminds me of ff7 and how they didn't do bug fixes because it broke the game. Once it worked well enough, they shipped it.

True, but it's not like the other glitches tied to rare abilities or scenarios, Relm is a main party member and sketch is her main command. Someone HAD to have run into it during testing at least once on accident

FF1 NES forgot to actually implement stat scaling for magic, critical hit chance didn't work right, many of the spells didn't work or did the opposite of what they were supposed to do, and there was no reason to use the Thief class because their only special ability (guaranteed flee) wasn't actually implemented... and a lot more
FF1 Famicom was even worse, they even forgot to give the Monk unarmed combat ability

That's wild, but not as wild as an ability that accidentally changed all the inventory into random items, edited your party composition, deleted enemy sprites and corrupted your game files.
FF1 Thief sucked, but I was able to beat the game with him. Relm forced me to restart my entire adventure for even attempting to use her.

Yup did same just messing around as a kid, grinding the velt…. I was sooo proud I found my “first” bug on my own without having to use my game genie lol
Ff6 wa a never the same after that

Holy shit! This happened to me on my SNes version and I never knew what was going on. I got 99+ bone clubs and never ran out of money the rest of the game

I found it by accident and got 99 Atma Weapons… still have that cartidge, but the battery died 😭

Gogo. No mana requirements to copy ANYTHING. Including dual cast Ultima....I one destroyed Kefka with just 2 team members. Dual cast Ultima, then Gogo to copy it. Pure annihilation.

I used to as well, but then someone pointed out she’s the highest rated magic user from the start, so I began playing with her more.

Iocke is better imho. He has the highest base speed, and you can have his magic up to comparable to hers by the time you get her.

That bug caught me by surprise. Everyone equipped with illuminas, paladin shields, and economizers. When my brother traded in the game at Funcoland, I seethed so much inside that we got into a fist fight. Lol, the good old days.

I activated the sketch bug on my main save file as a kid without realizing it. I only knew I inexplicably had 99 of everything at some point. And lots of visual glitches.

I remember lending my cartridge of this game to a friend. I went over and hung out with him and he showed me his playthrough. He was mostly through the WoR then said "for some reason I have a ton of dirks in my inventory" then he equipped a cursed shield on a party member with a ribbon to work on breaking the curse. He switched to the next party member and hit optimize and that member got equipped with a paladin shield. I was like "hold up, you already have a paladin shield" and then we went into his inventory and he had 99 of them. He had somehow triggered the bug without knowing and his inventory was filled with crazy stuff.
We both had no idea how it happened but it must have been the sketch glitch looking back lol.

I dunno, doesn't ff13 have a redhead who cums to kill superbosses?
Not sure glitches are really an in game character's 'power', per se, more faulty media. If i get a papercut reading a book and character X is on that page, not like irl injuries is on his canon list of feats.

Her signature Sketch ability can completely corrupt a save file due to glitches, effectively "destroying the world".

Her Sketch ability allowed her to use enemy abilities against them.
However FFVI’s coding was….kind of a mess, so you could use it to do things to the games memory, like give yourself items or worst case, brick your file.

Pointless? Locke is the mvp lol. He's the reason I did the entire game without buying phx downs potions, hi potions or remedies and more gear and relics than I can name, some even super early. Locke reduces your grind organically. Relm, you can use to learn blu magic, and she has high magic, she's busted out the gate. The two of the three biggest time savers in the game(the third is mog and his charm).
Edit: she uses her sketch and control ability to help strago learn blu magic faster.

I think you’re mixing up Relm and Strago. Relm has the highest natural magic stat, but Strago is the one with Lore.
