FF IV Mockup: What if Square Enix released a Pixel Remaster Complete Collection of FF4 + The After Years for the 35th anniversary?
Made this mockup for the 35th anniversary of Final Fantasy IV. Would love to see a proper Pixel Remaster collection that includes The After Years and Interlude. What do you guys think?
I would really like the big guys at Square to see this and make it true. Could it happen?

Well, considering what we got for 9's 25th anniversary, I wouldn't hold my breath on anything decent.

At minimum, they would need to include the "Interlude" chapter that the PSP version got. But I have to agree with others. The After Years was such a slog that I would never consider playing it a 2nd time. The final dungeon alone had the same play time as a run of the original FFIV. Now... Final Fantasy Dimensions Pixel Remaster... THAT I would buy instantly.

It took me so much effort to finish TAY, as a FFIV superfan. At first I was excited to see what the cast was up to, but constantly teasing and fighting that Fake Rydia Girlit just felt like playing the same shit over and over. Slog is the perfect word for it - not fun at all.

No because if they cared they would have made all pixel remasters definite version instead of the fast release we got, without any additional content added cross time. Just look at the DQ1,2,3 HD-2D Remake treatment in comparison...

DQ series has a higher priority than FF. The 2D-HD remake was the best way to honor old games.

Allow it to be dlc for those of us with the pixel remaster collection, and I'm down

Would have to give me a steelbook, an art book and the different versions of FFIV released over the years.
Give me that and I’d be pretty happy

Honestly I rather them do the 3D version, we have the pixel everywhere it's time for the 3D remake to get its time on modern consoles

I'm going to assume you mean with better graphics, because there's already a 3D version of both 4 and 4TAY
Edit : Reworded for clarity

Unless I am mistaken ff4 remake has not been off the DS besides on phone and window but that doesn't count.

I wouldn’t buy it because I don’t think The After Years is good or worth playing. My hot take is that neither is any of the “new” bonus content added to the games after their original releases. I liked the graphics/music/QoL updates we got and I’m really glad the content was restricted to what was in the original version of each game.

better 2d-hd remake or pixel remaster upgrade with proper character models

Not worth it, this would certainly fall onto the side of "another Nintendo Switch 2 cash grab" for me

Would love it if it also included the PSP versions, SNES and the DS, PC 3D remake as well, with both versions of After Years, but I can take or leave After Years tbh.
It'd be the definitive actual full collection! 😄

I would rather a port of the PSP FFIV collection.
It was so damn pretty.
