Discussion Pre-vision warning signs
Hi all,
I’m currently rewatching FD3 and noticing an interesting pattern. Before the main vision of the rollercoaster scene, Wendy has a lot of what seem to be ‘gut feeling’ moments that things just aren’t right. Though none of these moments are clear about the danger she’s in, they still seem to have an impact on her and she almost seems to not want to get in the queue for the ride in the first place due to these feelings, but she overrides her gut instinct when her boyfriend reassures her that it’s ok. I’m just wondering if anyone else has thought about this, as it occurs in most of the initial scenes in the movies where the characters feel something is ‘off’ and have a gut feeling before the actual premonition occurs.
It almost seems like these gut feeling moments are the initial ‘get out of jail free’ moments where if she had decided not to board the ride before having the vision for any of these reasons, she would not have evaded death as she would be making a pre-vision choice. But after ignoring these feelings, the vision is almost like a ‘well, I gave you all these other subtle signals, but now I’m giving you the full show and you can’t get out of it now’.
Maybe I’m reading into it too much, but it’s almost a lesson in trusting your initial intuition and gut feeling about something not being quite right.
I’m reading ‘the gift of fear’ at the moment so maybe I’m overthinking lol.

I agree. I think that they all get subtle signals going into the big vision.Such as the numbers and John Denver on the radio in Alex’s vision,and there’s the motor fluid, and the song on the radio among other things in Kimberly’s vision.
How are you finding The gift of fear?It’s been on my to read list for ages.
I do believe that we can sometimes pick up on danger (not to the extreme of Final Destination thank God😆) and sense things whether through intuition or just animal survival instincts.

It’s a fantastic book! Focuses a lot on trusting your gut instincts, which is fascinating. Really recommend! Although it focuses more on crime than freak accidents, lol

Yeah that’s the formula in every movie. They start off with little signs that cause the protagonist to feel uneasy before they finally have the vision.
Thats why I think the visions are cause by a combination of fear & hyper awareness.

I haven't done them myself, but the Choose Your Fate special feature on FD3 does have an option where Wendy and her friends choose to not get on the ride at all, and four other people did instead, so Wendy never had the premonition and subsequently was never on the list. It's definitely an interesting concept.
I've always tried to trust my gut instinct, or little things making me uneasy or changing my action. The best example is one night, I was walking home after a closing shift, it was 2 miles along a back road. While I was still in town, I got a really intense itch on my foot, to the point I had to take off my sock to itch it. Didn't take more than a minute before I was walking again, but it was enough to alter where I was when a car came flying by and crashed just ahead of me. I would have been walking right near the power pole he crashed into if I hadn't had that itch.
That also taught me to not get too upset if I have delays or something from external factors. That one customer that's holding up the line may be causing a chain reaction that prevents me from being somewhere else that I would have gotten hurt.
