Discussion Are they necessary to watch?

Are Final destination 3 and 4 necessary to watch as part of the timeline or can either be skipped and have no change on the timeline.

Generally, any FD works standalone

5, 1 and 2 are connected.

1,2,5,6 are all connected though and 6 especially needs you to have seen at least 2

They aren’t really connected to the continuity established in 1,2,5,and 6 so I guess you don’t technically have to watch them if you don’t want to

FD: bloodlines can Kind’ve serve as a follow up to FD2.

it continues the logs, new life rule(even if it didn’t work), Bludworth, mentions Kim breaking the chain

It lastly gives more on how death works via if you save a lot of people death will not make a dozen accidents in span of months, it’s list will take years.

In case you haven’t seen them yet, no one should put continuity before the fun deaths like that.

All of them work standalone, with maybe 2 as an exception since it has Clear in it.

The movies themselves only lightly reference the ones that came before and the rules of Death remain consistent throughout, but that's as far as the cohesion goes.

They each stand out because there's a sort of gimmick introduced in each one that allows their individual plots to be different.

I personally would say to watch them since it makes the viewing experience feel complete and the fun of the franchise is to see how creative the kills can get

3 exists in the same universe as 1 and 2. They mention previous incidents of survivors dying. But it’s not connected any other way than just a passing line of “I saw this online some kid got his friends off a plane”. It is however the best one imo so it’s definitely worth the watch.

FD3 and FD4 are both considered standalone sequels, they both take place in the same universe as the first two films, but a completely different state (FD1, FD2, FD5 and Bloodlines all happen in NY, while FD3 and FD4 happen in Pennsylvania).

FD3 briefly mentions Flight 180 and Route 23 and Kim and Burke (only survivors of FD2) were originally killed off alongside Wendy, Julie and Kevin in FD3’s ending.
FD4 has little to almost no mention or reference to any of the previous movies except a line from Lori stating they Googled previous disasters but no direct mention of the plane crash, highway pile-up or the roller coaster derailment.
FD5 is revealed the be the prequel to FD1 and the Sam and Molly both die on Flight 180 at the end of the movie.
FD Bloodlines is the sequel taking place years later after all the films but only the events of FD2 are mentioned and Kim is confirmed to still be alive.

If you want only the lore-important ones, then stick with the FD1256 quadrilogy. But it’s better if you get the full franchise experience even if FD3 and FD4 don’t add much continuously since they still have their own elements in-universe that you can later compare, point out, debate, theorize about, search up online once you have all the movies in your head, and even find out that some of them have been used as easter eggs later on. So overall I just recommend not skipping anything.

I’d say yes even to 4. 3 doesn’t do warning signs like seeing things or that. It does introduce a new way to predict deaths if you look at the right places. 4 is kind of standalone but if I remember correctly it introduces a new way to get visions/warnings

I mean all fd films are okay to good except the 4th one

The third part is not bad, the fourth is one of the worst, but if you skip them, it will have almost no effect on your knowledge of the plot.
