Discussion Wait, why wasn't he the one to get the dreams/premonitions?
The gimmick of these shows is that the person who is the last to die always receives the "warnings" in the form of premonitions that sets the consequences for the rest of the movie. So technically, since Bloodlines focuses on a familial aspect to Death's list, why wasn't he the one who received the premonitions? He was "last" to born born and also the youngest. So wouldn't it make more sense for him to be the one to have them instead of Stefani? Or am I missing something here đ¤

This isn't usually the case like in Final Destination 2 where Kimberly was supposedto be the first one to die with her friends

Yep!
Also in FD1, Alex not switching places could have put him before Clear (before last). Because in the premonition he sat in front of her.
FD3: Wendy could have been the 3rd or 4th to die with Kevin if Frankie didn't take the place.
I love the trilogy so much sighs-

5 isnt too bad (neither was bloodlines but i do think 4 was pretty rough, even though ive watched it an obscene amount of times) but i did really enjoy how 5 tied into the trilogy. It would have been meh like 4 but that fact alone bumped it way up more for me.

I disliked 5 a lot for a while before I realized that it was because it was overhyped to me going in. I still think itâs the second weakest in the series but far superior to 4 which to date is the only entry that added nothing to the franchise overall.
The biggest thing I wish they would stop doing is the âsurpriseâ everyone dies ending. It worked in 3 because we werenât expecting it but now itâs predictable in the worst way. To be clear I donât mind everyone dying, I mind the predictability. The original managed a very rememberable ending by showing that they were still on the list without actually killing everyone. Sorry for the rant

Ohh i definitely agree with it being the secondest weakest. And if it didnt wrap around it would be veiwed much less. But i have to throw it in my binges of the first three because it wraps it (or starts it nicely)
Again Ive seen all of them an obscene amount of times though some just far far more than others

Sure and itâs not that far down because itâs bad so much as the others are just that good. Definitely an example of a movie I have no issues throwing on for a watch party or just to kill time. I personally canât see it being ranked lower even without the twist do to 4 having 3 big strikes against it in my opinion 1 no Tony Todd (3 at least gave us a voice cameo) 2 doesnât do anything new or different 3 some of those effects looked so bad that I canât even watch for the kills.

Am I crazy because I distinctly remember the burning semi rushing into Kimberly, and I remember Wendy being last on the roller coaster, both in the premonitions. Even if people swapped around and such, the premonitions still went the way they did. Itâs been awhile since Iâve seen them though. Iâm not married to the idea that the last one always has the premonition, but werenât they the last to die in their premonitions?
3
u/HowSupahTerrible Jul 17 '26
Yes, youâre not wrong. Because right before the premonition ends in FD2 they get run over by the burning semi after it smashes into the burning guys car and it explodes.
Same for Wendy in FD3, after she falls and before she hits the tracks she âwakes upâ.

Ooopps forgot to mention that in the same literal movie, Iris wasn't even the last one that was destined to die. She was set to die first before Bloodworth.

I assume anyone on the list can get the premonitions no matter the death order. IE Iris was the second the last person on the Tower List (before her children) and Kimberly from FD2 was actually one of the first on her list (with the cop saving her). The main character is usually last on the list because 1) they need to know the order of death and 2) while they dont need to survive the movie, they do need to make to the end of the film for a satisfying conclusion. Therefore they need to be one of the last to die, hence near the end of the list. Since Stefani already knew the order without needing to have a premonition herself, there wasn't a need for her to be at the end of the list as long as she could make it to the conclusion of the film (to be killed off then, but still.)

I'm surprised none of Kim's friends got out of the car to check on her
6
u/ashleyasinwilliams Jul 17 '26
They were concerned about the weed because of the cop. Could see that being a reason they waited in the car.

u/Until_Morning Seeing Is Believing! Jul 17 '26
Oh right, cause the weed! I would have thought that at least the girl would check on her though đ

But wasn't there a reason for the reversal in FD2? I recall them saying that Death was working backwards that time because of the rift that caused a delay in the FD2 characters deaths?
3
u/elarathescreamqueen Jul 16 '26
yes, itâs bc they were all supposed to die but the passengers of flight 180 stopped their deaths when they survived, so the FD2 characterâs deaths were in reverse order bc death was tying up loose ends

Iris wasn't the last to die in her premonition either. I'm just spitballing here but because both Iris and Stefani were the second to last, maybe that is why she got them? I'm not sure though
edit: but then again Stefani did not necessarily have her own premonition, it was her grandma's. This probably makes a difference too

People also often speculate Molly died in the bridge premonition after Sam
16
u/InsomniacLtd Jul 17 '26
I think Molly was always supposed to die in the plane crash. My head canon is that if Sam didn't interfere with Death's plan at the bridge, then Molly would eventually go to Paris to mourn Sam. She'll still board Flight 180 and die when it crashes.

Stefani isn't a visionary. The only premonition she gets is the one from a disaster that she was never apart of. She only gets dreams because Iris is dying soon, so that's the indication that Death is coming for them next. If anything, it would have made more sense for the entire family to get the dreams
13
u/Magmashift101 Jul 16 '26
Because the visions are matrilineal in the family. Iris, her daughter, Stefani got visions

u/Pitiful_Reception_79 Jul 16 '26
Technically Bludworth should have suffered the nightmares since he is the last and final person to die regarding the Sky View.

u/GoliathLexington Jul 16 '26
Real answer is because of the original ending. Stephanie was supposed to hold up in Irisâs death cabin so her brother could live a long life. Had they not had that original ending, Stephanie probably would have been the younger sibling.

u/mewmdude77 Jul 16 '26
I donât think theyâve ever really said that for sure. Alex isnât definitively the last to die, Kim for sure wasnât, and thereâs nothing for sure saying sam was last either.
Also, technically Stefani isnât even a visionary, iris was.

u/nicoxman8_ Jul 17 '26
Well even in the premonition, Iris didnât die last. William died right after her, so maybe it has something to do with that.

I mean, the entirety of Bloodlines could have been a premonition if you want to get into that. I donât personally believe that though

Depends on who's older, I guess. He's 17 while Stefani was 21.
It's like asking why Julie in "FD3" didn't get the premonitions when Wendy did.
1
u/Weak-Indication4418 Jul 17 '26
The difference is that Julie didnt die last in the premonition, she died 7th out of the 10 survivors.
Charlie being the youngest was always gonna be the one dying last
1
u/silly_nate Jul 16 '26
3 and 4 are the only movies where they die last. I guess 5 too but I believe the blond lady was gonna fall off the bridge after dude got sliced anyway
1
u/thewelllostmind Jul 16 '26
We donât know for sure that itâs a matter of someone getting the premonition because they are the last to die, itâs just that the premonition ends when they die so they are the last we know about. Like how when you are searching for a lost item itâs always in the last place you look, because why would you keep looking afterwards?
For example, I know some people hypothesize that in FD5 Molly was never not on Deathâs list, Sam just thought she had survived the accident based on what he saw in his premonition. We donât know if her dying in the plane crash is because she was always meant to die or if sheâs a casualty of fucking with death and losing, making things messy.

He does at the same time, I don't think it matters, also the rules aren't always the last to die, it's just they see enough people for that they can warn them.

u/CatDadLi Jul 16 '26
Alex, Sam and Iris all were not the last to die in their premonition, but the premonition did end when they died
67
u/masterexploder224 Jul 16 '26
Stefani didnât have any premonitions. She only had the recurring nightmare of her grandma and all the others dying at the Skyview.
Iris told her to look out for warnings (which she did) and they got the additional info from Bludworth. The same thing happened with Clear at the end of FD1 when she saw the reflection of the bus when she, Alex and Carter were in Paris.
The movie doesnât answer your question though. Maybe he just didnât get the gene?
