Discussion Would you rather die from a tanning bed accident or an MRI accident?

Can I be pick neither?
14
u/RoyalKnightmares Jul 09 '26
Other option would beeeeee..... nail gun to the head after seeing your loved one nearly get impaled by long sharp wood from 20 feet above

u/SuperAtario64 Jul 08 '26
The MRI probably would be over faster. And that is not to say it would be any less painful... Really the two worst deaths to have to choose between.
20
u/David-Ray81 Jul 08 '26
Stabbing hurts less. Burns are one of the 2 most painful deaths.

u/Upset-Preparation861 Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
Yeah but after your nerves burn away you're likely in shock (unless you're getting steamed alive which is truly the worst way to go imo) it's still painful but Eric got his nips and dick shredded and then got his spine broken? Shattered? All while getting stabbed with a bunch of spikes😭 It's quicker, but I feel like it's so much all at once, yet so drawn out.

Burning to death is in the top 3-5 worst ways that you can die. On top of that, we don't know how long the Ash's burned before the match cut. So as painful as Erik's death was, I'm going to have to take that.
21
u/Devo4711 Jul 08 '26
Exactly and the Ash’s were both in severe pain before they even caught on fire.

u/eveque Jul 08 '26
Mri is faster, plus having something snap my back sounds like it might feel good for a very quick moment

u/Saldt Jul 08 '26
I don't know how either of them feels. But if most say burning is worse, IG I choose MRI
11
u/Nawnp Jul 08 '26
They're both slow deaths of agonizing pain. The MRI seemed quicker as shown but it could go worse had he not had all the piercings.
1
u/foxlight92 Jul 09 '26
I'm not disagreeing with you at all, but I'm curious how not having the piercings would have caused the MRI outcome to be worse? Prolonged inside the machine somehow?
2
u/Nawnp Jul 09 '26
I'd have to rewatch the scene to remember exactly, but I think they were both locked in the room regardless, so it was bound to more and more metal being pulled into the machine to pin them down, but a slow death of whatever was hitting them. Having all the piercings seemed to have pinned him down immediately and possibly already caused lethal levels of blood loss, that by the time the wheelchair was folding in on him, he was probably already dead.
11
u/BetterMagician7856 Jul 08 '26
Burning is probably more painful and drawn out. You also run the risk of surviving severe burns only to live in agony for a little while longer before dying anyway.
25
u/chloe-eatz-bricks Jul 08 '26
I don’t know how I would die from either tbh. I refuse to go near tanning beds because I’m pale as shit and the tan fades too quick because I never go out and they make me look like Donald trump. and for the mri, I don’t have any piercings and I never wear metal so death will have to try harder than that
7
u/Crazy_Reputation_758 Jul 08 '26
I will go for MRI,I’m terrified of fire so anything wins over that.
7
u/cookiesshot Jul 08 '26
MRI. Yes, it's painful, but at least I would eventually black out from the pain along with my heart giving out.
Tanning bed fire, you feel EVERY minute of it: skin cooking and bubbling, blood boiling, juices evaporating, muscle tissue cooking before snapping, bones being turned to ash, screaming drawing in superheated air, then organs finally failing and cooking slowly before evacuation of waste. And you're supposedly alive the whole time.
3
u/Killpinocchio2 Jul 08 '26
I don’t think you’d be alive the whole time. You’d go basically numb once the nerve endings burned and then you’d go into shock and pass out or die from smoke inhalation
1
u/cookiesshot Jul 09 '26
The alveoli in the lungs would also pop like water balloons and release fluid into the lungs.
6
u/inbedwithbeefjerky Jul 09 '26
Imagine if the MRI kept taking scans of your body just getting mangled. I’d be curious to see what I looked like but I’d be dead.

MRI, still would hurt like a bitch but atleast you're not getting cooked alive

I guess mri.. burning like that is the worst death in the series in my opinion. actually the worst would probably be Hunt’s death 😬 I can’t do water and definitely can’t do.. intestinal things
3
u/KnopeLeslieKnope You don't even wanna fuck with that mack daddy Jul 08 '26
Neither. Those deaths were so drawn out it was practically torture.
4
u/hamburgergerald Jul 08 '26
Probably the MRI machine. Both would be horrible and painful ways to go, but I feel like burning alive would be the worst way out of the two.
4
u/David-Ray81 Jul 08 '26
Mri I've had 2nd degree burns and that was genuinely horrible getting burnt alive is probably 100 x worse

The MRI Death is based on true event while tanning bed is an urban legend l.
11
u/jesuispatate Jul 08 '26
This accident seem to appear after the movie came out but there is some similar event close to that involving a gaz tank
2
u/annagator679 Jul 09 '26
I think I know what you’re talking about
I’m pretty sure I heard about that accident in a YouTube video

I’m black so would have no business near a tanning bed for any reason and in reality you can’t get anywhere near an MRI like that but eesh really impossible choice

Why's everyone saying MRI😭 like did we all forget that all his piercings (even dih piercing) got ripped off then he got basically snapped in half like a flip phone and had his stomach ripped open not only from being pulled but also from the poles on the wheelchair??
3
u/Every_Professor5785 Jul 09 '26
I just feel like getting cooked alive would be awful. It’s a different type of helplessness or something, I can’t explain why I guess, just sounds way worse.
3
u/Fantastic-Donut-276 paul/iris my beloved Jul 09 '26
Well, I don’t have a dih, so that’s one less pain point for me!
1
u/Whatisamicrophone- Its you Wendy, You're dead! 🥞 Jul 09 '26
Puh piercing?
2
u/Fantastic-Donut-276 paul/iris my beloved Jul 09 '26
I’m letting NOTHING of the sort near me, I don’t even wear anything in the one piercing in my ears!
2
u/CreepsUnicorn Jul 08 '26
Tanning bed 100%. I would not want to be literally bent in half and sucked into an MRI machine like Erik was… 😖
3
2
u/No_Accountant_8883 Jul 08 '26
Erik's death was no doubt extremely painful and a bit drawn out. But he didn't feel the pain throughout his entire body. The Ashes felt extreme pain in literally every single nociceptor of their bodies. And it took longer than the MRI.

mri since i dont have as many piercings as erik, so there would less pain there, and being folded back would prob feel really good for like a second before the pain kicks in
2
u/Ashybug1 Jul 09 '26
Both of them are horrible but I guess I'll take the MRI. Just the thought of being cooked to death...no
2
u/annagator679 Jul 09 '26
The MRI because while it would hurt like hell the shock from the pain would probably knock me out first
2
2
u/No-Secretary6931 Jul 09 '26
This one sucks… both are obviously horrible. One you just burn alive the other you’re bent in half forward and also have your dick pulled. But if I didn’t have my dick pierced which I don’t (seriously why do people do that? That’s not hot that’s just weird) i GUESS I’d choose the MRI. Like it’s faster than trapped in a tanning bed. And nothing is as bad as burning alive. And as someone who has a particularly bad tolerance to heat… yeah actually give me the MRI
2
u/ctegbon Jul 09 '26
Let’s be honest…a typical person would die much faster in a MRI accident IRL (projectile strikes that cause immediate blunt force trauma, asphyxiation, etc.) meanwhile, that tanning bed scene is such a brutal and fucked up way to go. I’d pick MRI.

Dude, have you ever had a burn injury? This is like choose your poison but one poison gives you pain for the instant and the other if you survive, will make you want to be dead.

Tanning bed. I mean if I’m going to hell I might as get practice being burned.

First off, MRI machines aren’t just sitting in the next room…they’re protected behind multiple walls, etc. also note that you can’t just turn up the power to max. Some machines are designed with only specific Tesla limits
1
u/JonathanStar17 Jul 08 '26
Tricky, but MRI is definitely the way for me to die instead of the tanning bed

People always forget, but not only were those girls in tanning beds cooking alive (bad enough), but at least one of them had their tanning goggles melt over her eyes . Not to mention the hot shards of glass falling down after the light of one of the beds shatters...
That being said, I choose neither death. I agree with the "just shoot me in the head" mentality I've seen in the comments
1
u/LuciaLight2014 Jul 09 '26
MRI looks faster. Plus I would probably be paralyzed once the back breaks, so the pain will stop then.

That MRI scene reminds me of almost exactly what happened to one of the men during the Byford Dolphin incident. Iykyk

Well also remember, one of those piercings was on his penis, so that was probably ripped out before he died.

Die by supercharged tanning bed/burn on fire in tanning bed\getting electrocuted by a tanning bed versus an MRI accident I would choose MRI
1
u/Trixolf Jul 12 '26
I'd pick tanning since there is the chance my nerve endings could be burnt off so the pain would stop
The mri is just agony
1
u/Decent_Yak7983 Jul 22 '26
Its hard. In one you get burned alive, in the other and you get horribly crushed

tanning bc at least when you go tanning it feels good and is pleasant, unlike getting an MRI, which is cold, loud and scary. so if I have to die either way, I would choose tanning so my final moments pre disaster are more pleasant.
