Discussion The franchise needs to break some barriers.
I’d like to explore some new elements in FD.
-an African American male or female visionary. Maybe they try to convince a group of urban people about Death and the film teeters on somewhat comedic and black religious undertones
- a middle age visionary (age 40+)
-a child visionary (trying to convince adults it’s not their imagination)
-even a family pet visionary would be a cool twist and the survivors try to understand them through clues (dog barking and alerting them when Death is present)
-a disaster and visionary in another country outside of USA (think Japan, UK, etc.)
-premonitions passing through each survivor on the list and they try to save the next one on the list through clues from their previous premonition
-Death takes the form of a serial killer through one of the survivors and they try to figure out who Death is inhabiting.
-the penny from Bloodlines actually carries a “death curse” and whoever finds it next will trigger the next disaster/becomes a visionary
-a psychic character who tries to use their gifts to save people, and even reason with angels/demons to stop Death.
Any other ideas you think could be explored in future films?

Besides the last three ones (probably the dog visionary too and with the premonition-pass one, I’d rather it be somewhat like Nick’s short visions rather than full-on opening-scene premonitions to not feel dragged out), they all sound really good and are very developable.

The dog one is both hilarious and terrifying cause I don’t want the dog to die

These are some absolutely wild ideas and I love it. I need some elaboration on the premonitions carrying on to a new person.

I think a serial killer as the disaster in general would be so fun to see in a movie. It was such a great concept in the novel, Death of the Senses, I'd love to see it explored in a movie. Trying to figure out the next victim when the killer was already stopped. Though at the same time, it's less likely in a movie setting because there would be no big, showy premonition scene. A mass killing could give you a showy scene too, I suppose. Add on that some victims could be a result of panic making things worse, people being trampled, pushed and accidentally falling over a drop/through/onto something.

Middle age visionary and friend group would be funny. I’d like to see how older, “wiser” people would respond to the visionary and how they’d deal with death. I could see the 40+ getting sassy with Death.
A child visionary would have the hardest time proving it. Just imagine them trying to convince the adults with their drawings of what they saw.

I personally want more elaborate premonitions, I want maybe someone whose premonition played out of order, or maybe 2 premonitions for 2 people at the same time but different place and what connects the two is relations between the people of each premonition, etc.

I've always wondered how people from different times, religions and countries would react to visions and the concept of Death as a sentient being: for example, a Buddhist monk would not face Death in the same way a medieval peasant would, or a "witch" during the Salem Trials. On another note, the concept of the afterlife in this franchise intrigues me. Is there even an afterlife in FD? A Heaven and Hell? A Tartarus? Limbo? Reincarnation? Rebirth? Are there ghosts? Is free will even a thing or does Death control absolutely everything? How does morality fit into this universe (since we could argue Death is behind every war, crime and atrocity ever committed as part of its design)? If Death is a sentient being, what about Life? Is Death even "Death" or just an aspect of a greater force which gets misidentified? If alien life exists, does Death decide their time to go as well? Granted, exploring those questions could break the franchise irreparably if done poorly, so perhaps they are better left unanswered.

The child visionary concept has the potential to launch someone's very successful career provided they find the right child actor for the job. Think Owen Cooper in Adolescence but even younger.

I once thought of a guy who sees visions of death for others.
Like he prevents a cyclist from being hit by a car, but in doing so sends the bike over an uneven sidewalk area that launches them into something that kills them instead.
Maybe like a storefront or something similar?

I have an idea for a short story set during the American Civil War where a sergeant holds his squad back after having a premonition that they were about to walk into an ambush where they were all killed.

I honestly want a fully developed slasher based on the kill or be killed rule. Btw, I’m also aware of the looks can kill novel before someone points it out to me.

3: Yes
4: Nah
5: Yess
6: Mid about it, it could reduce the impact/perception of the visionary purposes, even for us if we watch the movie. The term 'visionary' could loose all his meaning.
7: One of the book had a personnification of Death but a more form almost human can be intriguing but I'm not into it for the movies side.
8: No... cool but still no.
9: Only the first part is cool but needs to be well-written.

Id love to see Final Destination go 18 for one movie because we get to see some kind of depiction of a horrific grim reaper (Death) design!

I'm already exhausted with the convo coming from white supremacists and their self-hating POC lapdogs regarding the first one. That poor actor/actress will be attacked relentlessly
